Camming can be rewarding for many reasons. After all, you are your own boss, you make your own hours and you ultimately decide how much you can make. But let’s be honest — when you’re your own boss, accountability can falter. There’s no one there to make sure you “show up” on time, or at all. You can get lazy and make excuses to not to get online.
If you’re having an off day, that’s fine — it happens to everyone at some point — but sometimes an off day can stretch into an off week (and beyond) during the winter holiday season. Here are some tips to get you merry, bright and back in the game!
Set Goals
Make weekly and daily goals for yourself. Brace yourself — there might be some math involved. Your weekly goals should include how many hours you’re going to spend online and how much content you want to put out that week.
Daily goals are a great way to motivate you and your audience. Set a daily monetary goal for yourself. If you average around $100 a day, then make that your goal and keep going until you reach it. Let your clients know about your goals, and they’ll do what it takes to help you get there.
Make sure your goals are reasonable. You don’t want to stress yourself out if you don’t make them. Just know, slow days happen, and you won’t always meet your goal. Don’t let it stop you from working the next day, and don’t think you have to work overtime to make up for it. Every day is a clean slate.
Find an Excuse to Celebrate
There are holidays coming up obvs, but what additional cause do you have to celebrate? Is your birthday around the corner? CAPITALIZE ON IT. Decorate your room, do a countdown, come up with games, update your wishlist! Get your clients excited about that special day. Give them a reason to be extra generous. ‘Tis the season, and maybe ’tis you birthday month — or your cat’s birthday month! (Hey, why not?)
Camming on an actual holiday might not be the best idea, after all, that’s time you could be spending with loved ones. Your clients also have a family of their own too. But that doesn’t mean you can’t build up to a holiday festivity in your cam room.

Take A Break!
If your boss told you that you have to come in every day with no days off, you’d probably quit. Treat this like any other job, and give yourself a break.
Think about this: TIME reported that Miwa Sado, a 31-year-old woman in Japan who put in more than 150 hours of overtime in a month, died of congestive heart failure due to “overwork.” She was a journalist for Japan’s national public broadcasting organization, NHK.
what. the. hell?!
Overworking yourself will only lead to stress and a multitude of bad things. Not only that but your performance can take a dive, and your clients can tell. It is so important to have one or two days off a week. Be strict with your days off, let your clients know you’re not checking messages or responding until you’re back online. “You Time” is important.
Do You Like What You Do?
Ask yourself: “Do I like being a cam model?”
If you don’t genuinely enjoy what you’re doing, of course you aren’t going to be motivated to do it. This is the case with all occupations, but maybe especially with webcam. Sure, it’s a lucrative practice, and money is a huge motivator — but if you’re struggling to get online and its a chore to talk to clients, maybe find a new line of work. You’ll be so much happier in the long run.
