You’ve heard about it… You’re thinking about it… You’re just about ready (maybe) to give it a try! Here are five super compelling reasons why you might want to get on cam.
1. The cash money
This has to be the #1 on the list, right? When most people consider cam modeling, they’re interested in the money first and foremost.
While you can make quite a bit of money doing cam work, it isn’t always easy. It’s been said that cam models make between $20-$40 an hour when they first start out. Like any performer, you’ll have to build your audience, brand and reach in order to really bring in the big bucks. You are essentially your own business, which is pretty cool!

2. The control over your body
The sexually liberated woman, man or gender nonconforming individual might see the appeal of camming as a form of sexual expression, not necessarily just a way to make fast cash.
Sex work in many aspects may turn off someone because of the fact that you’re being paid for a service and that service may require some work that you aren’t comfortable with. Camming, however, is an interesting alternative. You’re the only one there, the one in control, the one who will decide what and how things will be done with your body. Obviously some negotiation with patrons is common, but ultimately, nobody is physically there to make you feel unsafe or not in control.
3. The simplicity of the job
Performing isn’t always easy, whether you’re on a stage, on a set or in front of webcam. The work of camming, however, may be more accessible to a greater number if people. You aren’t exactly method acting or doing backflips on screen. (Unless that’s your niche!)

Depending on what website or service you use to facilitate your cam career, there may be the opportunity to have regular patrons. It’s really great when it happens, too. A particular person will enjoy your work and regularly contribute, be it through tokens, cash or Amazon wishlist items.
This kind of rapport can add a bit of stability to an otherwise often unstable career. You never know exactly how much money you’ll be making that night, but you know for sure that one patron will be there as per usual. Plus, creeps aside, regular patrons sometimes become more interested in comfortable conversation and entertainment rather than getting straight to the nitty gritty, which can be refreshing.
“I also enjoy the performance and entertaining aspect of the job,” Kay explained, “as I spend a lot of time clothed and trying to keep people entertained and interested with the conversation and my personality.”
5. The opportunity for social media presence
You may have noticed that most popular cam models have Twitter, Snapchat or Instagram handles. Since social media is free, it is an awesome way to market yourself as a cam model. And since you’re selling sex, you’ll more than likely see your social media popularity explode after debuting as a cam model.

Cam modeling is not an autopilot, get-rich-quick scheme, nor is it an incredibly stable hustle for newbies.
