Halloween is just around the corner. And so, we must ask this single, most truly significant question: Do you know what/who you’re going to be for Halloween this year?
I’ll be honest: Most years, I already know what I’m going to be. But this year, I’m… blessed? Cursed? — either, with having quite a few options.
So, if you’ve yet to settle on a costume to wear for Halloween — be it for your personal enjoyment, to a party or on cam — let us help.
The following Halloween costume ideas are all inspired by super-fun characters from pop culture that we all got to know, love and sometimes even hate throughout the past year.
Any witch from the American Horror Story: Coven/Murder House crossover
Although the photo below is an image of a person expertly cosplaying Zoe Benson from American Horror Story: Coven, a motivated witch-lover could easily replicate any of the show’s witches’ styles.
Basically, all you need to make this costume work is an all-black outfit — a dress or a black shirt paired with a black skirt or pants will do… Just don’t forget your favorite style of black hat. If you’d like to wear this outfit or cosplay one of the witches on cam, make certain to invest in a bewitching black negligee.
A purger from The Purge
Whether you love or hate The Purge film (and now television series), you’ve got to admit that the film’s costume department sure does know how to make a good Purge costume. For example: Check out the cosplayer’s take on one of the more memorable young purgers from film three of the series, The Purge: Election Year, below.
Now, you don’t have to dress as elaborate as this — any creepy, homemade mask/outfit combination could work.
This outfit concept would go over quite well at a party but also could work on cam. Simply arrange a Purge night for your fans. It’s admittedly a strange and creepy concept, but hey — it’s Halloween.
A wrestler from GLOW
Not only is GLOW a charming show on Netflix, but it’s also rife with more than a handful of amazing women characters who know how to rock wrestling garb.
Although we’ve included interpretations of Liberty Belle and Zoya the Destroya, any fan of the show should be able to replicate their favorite gorgeous lady of wrestling.
This costume concept would work well for one person or a group of friends. We need to see Melrose, Britannica, Sheila the She Wolf and you! And that same idea could work on cam, too.
Meghan Markle
Admit it: You’ve always kinda wanted to be a member of the royal family. That castle! The hats! The parties! Although most of us won’t ever become a princess or a duchess (unfair), all of us can pretend we’re Meghan Markle by wearing a posh outfit and polishing our lewk.
This costume also could work on cam and off. It’s perfect for the person who would rather “dress up” dress up on Halloween or who wants to command her “subjects” (fans) during a show.
Look at this makeup — gorgeous!
Suspiria’s Madame Blanc
In the 1977 film Suspiria, students at a ballet school are tormented by unknown, deadly forces. And in just a month (a month — I’m so excited) fans of the film will get to see a new interpretation of the film when the remake hits theaters.
Although you could easily dress as a Suspiria ballerina, we’re going to suggest you dress as Tilda Swinton’s character: Madame Blanc.
Although we don’t want to go into too much detail concerning who Blanc is (please watch the 1977 film!), we will state, without a doubt, that her striking yet menacing look would be a showstopper at any Halloween party.
I mean, just look at this dress… Swoon!
