Welcome to #Cammunity Chatter, an occasional roundup of some of the best and sassiest social media statements that speak.
This was an after-holiday week, and hoo-boy did it feel like it. To help you bounce back after last week’s holiday “refreshment,” we’re here with a handful of amazing tweets from equally amazing members of the cammunity.
We’re starting off this week with a tweet from Sydney Leathers that many women will relate to.
when a strange man on the street tells me to smile & I tell him to fuck off pic.twitter.com/nrnFIsJ7Y9

Ugh. It hurts it’s so real. Women have always felt the fear of possible retaliation from men when we put them in their place (or simply tell one of them “no”). However, this past year has been full of super scary happenings that make the possibility of violence seem more likely. All we can say to this is we feel you, Sydney.
Next up, Ginger Banks is rallying for education.
How do we incentivize people to change for the better? I don’t think we do it as well by threatening or shaming them, as we can by educating them? When people are ignorant about something, they tend to rely on stereotypes.
— Ginger Banks (@gingerbanks1) May 29, 2018
We get what Banks is saying and agree that education is truly the only thing that can make real, lasting change. However, we totally understand why people still shame others, too. Although shaming may not be how a lot of us like to handle haters, the reaction is still alive and well because it works “in the moment.”
Next, some thoughts from Fat Gal Yonce.
You’re not going to be able to grow and create healthy relationships if you cannot reflect on your own behaviours and accept the roles you have played in certain situations. Apologize when you’re wrong.

I am clapping so hard right now because she’s so right. Although I’ve been known to reflect a bit too much on my behavior (thanks, OCD), personal reflection is the only way to truly grow and become a kinder person.
And thanks to Riley Reyes for retweeting Severe Sex Films’ tweet.
Performers, @apacsocial has a lot going on next weekend for International Whores’ Day. You should come and join us! pic.twitter.com/4J6dKVy4SA
— SevereSexFilms (@SevereSexFilms) May 28, 2018
It’s full of information about the upcoming International Whores’ Day Weekend. The weekend will be full of information about lobbying, the March for Sex Workers, self-care, and more.
And last but not least is a retweet from SmartyKat314.
Friendly reminder that it’s not a good idea to be casually whorephobic and assume the people around you aren’t sex workers cus you never fucking know. :)))))))))))
— Darth Ophidius ? (@EspiKvlt) May 25, 2018
The original tweet from Darth Ophidius is spot on.
People are so “brave” when they assume the people they are slamming aren’t around. Thing is, sex workers are everywhere and are also people — like, human beings who deserve basic human rights and protections. So, we agree — take that whore shaming somewhere else because we aren’t interested.
