A bunch of questions related to couples camming have crossed my path recently. I took it as a sign. Welcome to “Here’s My Question, Couples Edition.”
This person wants to know about major differences between couples and solo shows.
I have done solo female camming for a while and like it, but I am considering doing couples’ camming with my bf. How much different is it experience-wise? Any tips on how to make it successful?
The responses were interesting and varies. One person started in with immediate myth busting regarding earnings and popularity (based on his experience):
You will have a lot of people tell you it’s not as good as solo camming. While in a lot of cases that may be true, I have to politely disagree. I am male and I cam with my girlfriend. If I am on solo as a male, I of course don’t make too much, but I will have my good days. While she is on solo, she will usually do pretty well too. But when we are on together, our room will skyrocket, always having 1,000+ people and being on the first row in the couples’ section with constant tips.
You may also be told since you have two people you’ll be making less since you have to split the money, but we make far more tokens and faster than ever when we are on together.
Another person pointed out that traffic is great, but it doesn’t necessarily translate into money earned — which is important to be aware of. This might have been due to someone not knowing the magic recipe: hustle and have fun.
I did couples camming, and what happened was I got a TON of traffic but didn’t make that much money. My partner didn’t understand camming though and was just kinda there to have fun and not make money. He was like trying to have sex with me in the free chat, and I was like “Nooooo!!!!” It can be a good experience, and I recommend you try it just make sure that they know how to hustle AND have fun.
Mostly though, a lot of advice was about finding your groove — learning the ways and means of different sites, trying different things that both people are comfortable with, and experimenting with big ticket shows when you have a large number of people tuned in. Oh, and foreplay — “Do lots of foreplay to get people excited to see more.” Point made!
This next question is about falling into that proverbial couples rut we’ve all heard about.
My boyfriend and I cam on Chaturbate. We’ve been having a tough time with camming. I’m not sure if it’s we’re not making enough money or if we don’t like our new place, but it has seemed like such a chore lately. We have a good time most times but don’t make nearly enough to live. Anyone got advice on how to make it fun for us and our viewers?
The advice was really interesting and varied, including trying new things — a bit of business and pleasure!
Diversify. You’ll get to spice things up by trying out new kinks, and you might find a niche market for one of them.
One obvious response had to do with cultivating relationships and building your tribe. Building personal connections takes time, but a person you have a personal connection with is more likely to stay around for the long haul.
A lot of your success will come from the relationships you build with your viewers over time. Be sure and interact with them on a personal level. Ask your tippers questions, get to know them, greet them when you see them, ask them updates on any recent info they have told you.
The best advice though, was the simplest and most obvious. Camming is a job, and “If you want to make a living off of camming, you have to treat it like a job — and it’s not an easy one.”
At the end of the day, camming is a sales job. Reading up on sales techniques on forums with other models can be really useful. Another thing that can make a big difference is actually raising your rates. Cam shows are a luxury, so price yourself — and your show with your significant other — accordingly.
Finally, if you’re anything like me, you appreciate blunt. Here was a great direct question — and I know everyone wants to know the answer: Couple cammers, how much do you typically make?
I know that asking how much people make is a bit of a taboo question, but I’m curious how much couples make on cam. I have a friend who cams on her own, and she will make in the region of £1,000 – £1,300 (U.S. $1,300 – $1,700) a week; however, I often hear couples can make more, so I thought I’d ask the folks who actively do this.
The internet came back with some really helpful insights, suggestions, and words of wisdom.
You cannot base your own potential success on other people in this industry. It’s freelance work, and everyone is different. There are people who only make $50/day, and there are people who make $2,000/day. It’s almost impossible to know how much you can make based on other people’s earnings.
More often than not, there’s better money to be made working solo as a female. Remember, you’d have to at least double your earnings to make it worth bringing someone else in. If someone makes 1.5x as much with a partner as they do solo, their own cut is 0.75x their solo earnings.
Ultimately though, couples show success seems to come down to success dictates in general. “How much you earn depends on how much work you put in,” one person explained, adding an important point: “As a couple you will be watched a lot more than alone. Couple shows are always more popular. They’re also a lot more effort, though.”
