As modeling on cam has grown over the years, it has not only revolutionized the adult industry, but it has also singlehandedly created a new type of star: the cam model. Once word got around about how successful one can be with technological advancements over the years, the number of cam models, sites and studios have soared. In a world where webcam is found on every virtual corner, how can a model stand out from the rest? One answer is through specializations like that of fetish and BDSM.
Fetish cam models are in high demand, and that demand is increasing as the days go by. Live-cam technology has fundamentally transformed fetish and BDSM play, which was once only available to a select few. Instead of researching and tracking down a suitable dungeon and spending time negotiating face-to-face with a fetishist of one’s choosing, fetish lovers now have the option of indulging their kinky fantasies in a completely virtual environment. Fetishists are a unique type of user and because they require a level of satiation only a fetish model can meet, fetish live-cam models have become essential.
But how in the world can a “vanilla,” “glamour” or even a newbie model with no fetish experience take advantage of the rise in live-cams fetish play? Contrary to popular belief, you don’t need real-life fetish experience to be a successful live-cam fetish model. You just need an open mind and the ability to learn a new skill. Here are some pointers I’ve found to be extremely helpful when starting out with no experience.
Open-minded research: Define your fetish interests and abilities.
The internet provides a great kinky research resource, especially if you don’t already have a fetish mentor. If you’re unfamiliar with the different types of fetish play, research them to see if you’re interested in learning more about what they involve. Having an open mind is crucial when thinking about exploring live-cam fetish modeling, because you have to be open to the different fetish desires users may have. Some fetishes are more complex than others, and some involve developing a particular technique, while others involve creating precautions like a safe word. Ask yourself a few questions (and be honest with your answers). What fetishes am I interested in exploring? Can I comfortably and accurately act-out a specific fetish role-play?
You don’t have to learn about all types of fetish play, but it’s definitely worthwhile to learn about a good handful because there’s so much crossover. For instance, a domination fetish show will involve a power exchange and perhaps some small penis humiliation (SPH), jerk-off-instruction (JOI), foot fetish play and so on. There’s one unifying characteristic though: Every fetish involves a role-play.
There are a ton of different sites and blogs that give in-depth explanations and definitions of different fetishes and what they involve. The Flirt4Free BDSM & Fetish Play Community is a great place to start, because we offer an extensive library of BDSM and fetish education, including an entire glossary.
Pro Tip: If you’re more of a visual learner, another great way to research is simply by observing some fetish live-cam models and learning from them. Observe how they interact with their fetish users. Learn from their skills, and transform them into your own.
Thought experiments: Imagine your role-plays.
After you have explored the different fetishes that pique your interest and decided upon the different fetish services you want to offer, it’s time to perfect your ability to interact in a fetish show. Ask yourself: Do I want take on a dominant persona, submissive persona or both as a switch? What are my limits? How would I conduct a role-play? What would I say? Take yourself through thought experiments and imagine different role plays.
The better you understand what you’d want as a submissive, the better you will be able to perform as a dominant and vice versa. Understand the different types of mind states or “headspaces” — domspace and subspace — and what those involve. If you want to be the dominant Mistress or Master, learn how to earn submission from a sub, to be in control, give commands and maintain a supreme mentality throughout the duration of a show. If you want to be the submissive, learn how to have obedience, obey orders and specific commands and be of service to a Dominant throughout the show.
Be yourself, have fun and own it.
Once you understand what’s expected for specific fetishes and can comfortably and accurately act out your fetishes on cam, you’re ready to dive right in and gain some real experience. Don’t be nervous, afraid or self-conscious about performing; just be yourself and have fun with fetish play! Don’t be afraid to chat with your users a bit before going straight into show. Get to know them and understand their specific fetish desires and limits so when you do end up going into show, you know exactly how to blow their kinky mind.
Every fetish user is different, so when in show understand that each user wants a unique experience with you. They want to enjoy the distinct fetish skills you have to offer. Sharing some of your true personality like special quirks with a fetish user aids in making the kinky show feel more intimate and real. Last but surely not least, be confident! Have confidence in your ability to understand and satisfy a fetish user. You’d be surprised just how much a confident attitude can draw in a curious fetishist. Own your kinks, own your Dominant or submissive persona, understand your own limits and you’ll set yourself up for a successful fetish show.
