Imagine some ordinary goals: do a pull up, learn a new language, bake a perfect chocolate cake.
None of those goals just happen. To learn a new language, for instance, you need to decide on an approach: Are you going to take classes or learn on your own with an online program? Then, you need to carve out time in your day and find people to practice with. Heck, you need to figure out which language you want to learn in the first place. In addition, you need to plan over time: What can you expect for Day 1, Week 1 and the first month? Long story short, in order to get to a big goal, you must plan and accomplish a litany of smaller goals first.
Breaking larger life goals down into smaller steps like this can help you stay focused and accomplish anything — including webcam success.
According to L0li_Cam — experienced model, marketing guru and cam coach — goals big and small can be the steppingstones to becoming a successful webcam performer. “If you want to succeed in this work, you will want to set goals for yourself in your room, as well as outside it,” she explained.
There’s a reason for this: Goal-setting helps establish benchmarks and structure, making your long-term lofty goals more accessible and attainable. I talked with L0li about strategies for goal setting, including setting limits. Per L0li, these strategies will help you join the ranks of the most successful live-cam models and understand all the benefits of working with limits, consistency and respect.
I spoke to L0li about long-term planning and goal, two topics she shares insights on below!

Where do you see yourself?
Online adult personality or cam star? Icon with a deep and loyal community of followers or camgirl ninja who slips online and offline at will? Though you can always change your mind and switch gears in your career path, it’s important to ask “Where do I see myself and my career going?” Do you want to become an internet personality, or do you prefer anonymity and just having fun doing your show? Whichever category you fall into, it’s important to have a vision — to know what you aspire to do with your show. Once you have an idea of where you see yourself, set goals that are realistically reachable and will motivate you.
Even the biggest accomplishment is just a product of smaller steps that came before. Break your goals up into smaller projects and points of achievement. That will be a much easier way to make your dreams happen.
Planning, planning, planning
Take time to brainstorm everything you want to do in your shows, ever. Then, write out what you have no interest in doing, not even for a gazillions bucks. These lists aren’t set in stone, but writing things out will help you plan for the future.
Consider your “yes” list. Think about your outfits, and plan the esthetic of your room to make each idea enjoyable. You may think it’s wiser to keep your room simple — a pretty girl on a white backdrop definitely can work — but a girl with a room that’s well set with color and interesting layout will pop!
Also, you don’t have to stay in your same environment for each show. People love new and different experiences, so give them what they want. Try the laundry room or a desk. Why not?
Same goes for what you want to do in your room (even if it’s something you never had an inkling to do on cam before). Maybe tonight you feel wild and want to do more then your usual list of treats. Go for it! But once you fix an amount for each lovely treat you like to do on cam, respect it. This will help you to be consistent and not let anyone take advantage of you.
Post your “yes” and “no” lists on your profile so everything is clear for your viewers. This will save time when they ask for this or that, and you can quickly answer “Go check my profile, sweetie.” (Obviously if you yourself want to change your dos and don’ts, that’s a totally different situation.)
Respect yourself.
Remember: You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do. Please don’t waste time with trolls looking to piss you off, make you feel guilty, shy, ashamed or sad. Their goal? To ruin your show and make your life a living hell. Don’t give them that pleasure. Ignore them, ban them, hell, have fun with them, even. You will know soon enough when you meet one of them that there’s no escape except to be prepared.
Don’t be a robot.
By saying “stick to your objectives” and “maintain your limits,” I’m not saying to become a voice machine sitting there treating everyone like an ATM. I’m just saying that you are precious and your time is something valuable.
At the same time, for someone to watch, you need to show something interesting. If you stay there repeating over and over “Flash for 50 tokens!” with no smile or interaction with your viewer, you will see your room empty out quickly. Compare that to another room with a smiling girl who talks about her passion for music and occasionally gives a li’l flash just to tease. This girl will see more action, but be warned: People love free shit, and they will never have enough. Stay out of that trap.
Sum up.
Without goals, any career will lack focus and direction. Cam is no different. This goes for how you actualize your goals, as well as how your friends online can support you. How are people supposed to know how to please you if you don’t tell them? Goal-setting not only allows you to take control of your show, but it also helps your tippers by giving them an indication you are a model open for business, not just a person sitting there to pass the time.
Whether you have small or lofty expectations, setting goals will help you to be more confident. In order to be successful, you need to organize and write your goals:
- Determine your long-term goal as a performer and goals for your shows.
- Break the big picture down into smaller and more specific goals.
- Be reasonable and adjust your goals periodically.
- Stick with it. Nothing happens overnight. At the same time, don’t get passive or lazy.
- Keep track of what works — and what doesn’t.
Always remember the most important thing: In your room, you’re the diva.
