We’ve come a long way from the days when women slept with their hair in curlers and their faces covered with clay. Beauty products are a multi-billion-dollar industry, and we eagerly shell out our hard-earned cash in hopes of smoothing, tucking, plumping, tightening, exfoliating, applying and cleansing. Go on cam with shine and pores? Unfathomable! And why should you, when there’s an entire market dedicated to making you matte and particle-free?
Like everything else these days, the beauty industry is all about electronics and gear. Don’t exert your precious energy on brushing, patting, sponging, wiping, squeezing or peeling. Look around long enough, or run enough searches, and you’ll find an appliance of some sort to do it for you.
Here are just a few that may seem bananas … until you try them.
Do you still wash your face by hand? Step out of the Dark Ages and let the Clarisonic do it for you. Remove makeup. Loosen the dirt and grime of your day. Watch your skin improve. Glow, even. Affix the brush, wet it, add cleanser, wet your face, turn it on and let the sonic cleansing do all the work. Want more than a clean face? Clarisonic now offers a variety of brushes and models for every need.
Sonic cleansing too pricey? No worries. Olay offers an affordable option. The ProX Advanced Cleansing System features two-speed rotating cleansing brush and cleanser. Available at supermarkets, mass retailers and drugstores everywhere.
You want a new face? How about a NuFace? Try the NuFace Facial Toning Device and “Lift Like a Pro!” Charge up, apply gel, turn on the device and begin gliding it across your face, section by section. Improve your skin and reduce your wrinkles in only minutes per day — no knives or needles required.
Ohmigod, pores?! No need to fret. Panasonic saves the day for your pockmarked nose and T-zone with the EH2511A Pore Cleanser with Mist. Be gone, archaic extractors and sticky strips! This familiarly shaped, potential hickey-making device uses a suction cup to pull all that gunk out of your skin. At least, that’s what it claims to do.
Does your skin “knead” rejuvenation? The ReFa S Carat promises to “replicate fingertip action” as the small, V-angled rollers work their way across your face, gently gripping and point-kneading to tighten and refresh. Uniquely shaped for additional “kneads”?
Tired of putting on your makeup? Let BlendSmart do it for you. No more need to fool with brushes, sponges, bottles or applicators. Liquid makeup? No problem. Dot it on and let the 360-degree rotating foundation brush do the rest. Powder? Open the compact, swirl the powder brush, hold it to your face and let it spin. Blush, definer, finishing — there’s a brush for that, that and that.
What do the words pulse, massage and silicone bring to mind? Probably not a toothbrush, but that’s because you’re not familiar with the Foreo Issa. Forget the prickly bristles on your trusty Oral-B. The Issa electric is made of silicone to better remove plaque and tartar while gently cleaning your teeth and gums and protecting your enamel. Don’t forget to floss!
Oh, your aching back! No one can work, much less cam, with a backache. You need relief. Enough said.
