With 2024 right around the corner it’s time for you to reassess your cell phone carrier to see if you have the best plan that fits your lifestyle and career.
Of course, we all know the heavy hitters, AT&T and Verizon, and if you’re like me you’ve pinged back and forth one year angry at one, the next year annoyed with the other until finally you ended up with T-Mobile or Sprint.
But maybe you’re fed up with them too!
If you are, you don’t have to settle – there’s a lot of competition out there and it’s worth taking a look at some of the lesser-known carriers. If you dig deep you’ll find some of them are owned by the big guys, but they still do business differently.
Read below for a breakdown of wireless carriers you may want to check out.
Consumer Cellular – With “premium nationwide 5G+ coverage,” this company also states they’re free of hidden fees, activation, contracts, and risk. If you’re older, they also offer an AARP member plan & discount.
Mint Mobile – Owned by T-Mobile, this company has garnered a lot of buzz due to Ryan Reynolds, who owns a 25% stake. He’s also the spokesperson and has made it pretty hip with the humorous commercials he stars in to promote the company. As of this writing Mint offers three months free for those who buy a three- month plan.
Spectrum – If you use Spectrum as your internet provider and you’re happy with it you may want to consider getting on board with their wireless service as well. Spectrum is known for bundling – the more products of theirs you stack on the better the deal.
Straight Talk Wireless – If you shop a lot at Walmart, you’ll want to consider Straight Talk. Certain plans offer a free Walmart+ membership which gives you savings on gas, groceries, and more.
Tello – This company also uses T-Mobile’s network and offers an incredibly inexpensive unlimited phone plan for $25 a month.
US Mobile – This prepaid carrier is great for those of you who travel abroad – their service includes unlimited international calls and texts for up to 200+ destinations in addition to roaming in 100+ countries for data, calls and texts.
Visible Wireless by Verizon – This offers two simple plans with taxes and fees included – one which costs $25 a month for unlimited data talk and text, and another comes in at $35 (at the time of this writing) which has additional perks.
Xfinity Mobile – Right now Xfinity is offering $400 off an iPhone 15. In addition, as reported on by Reviews.org they’re known for their superior customer service.
There’s a lot more options out there if you want to go down the rabbit hole, but this is a good start. Just make sure to do your research, read the fine print for any hidden fees, and above all make sure your area is covered by their network.
