In sex work, our bodies are our livelihoods, and while we have the privilege of enjoying ourselves while making money, we can indeed burn out.
Masturbating for long hours, focusing on pleasing others, and keeping a consistent act can be physically, mentally, emotionally, and sexually taxing. Many times, we dissociate to perform and entertain. Some of us may push the limits of our bodies to earn a tip goal, extend a private, innovate, or create more interesting content. In the long run, some practices may contribute to the loss of sexual pleasure.
Therefore, we should have techniques to protect ourselves emotionally and mentally from sexual overactivity. Generally, someone who no longer feels sexual pleasure while camming can experience:
- Pressure to orgasm all the time, so they fake it and have mixed feelings about it.
- Some dissatisfaction with the job besides enjoying most of the aspects of it. Lack of sufficient arousal.
- Circumstances that have made camming uncomfortable, triggering, and unpleasant.
- Some of the previous options or all of the above.
Whatever your case is, it’s okay to feel this way. There’s no shame or guilt in it.
Why you can’t feel sexual pleasure while camming?
You may not get there yet because of:
Overthinking
You’re wary about your angles, what the client thinks about you, or whether what you’re what you’re doing will end well or not. Even if your pleasure is not a priority in sex work, you should still have a good time.
Distractions
Your mind is scattered. Are notifications on your phone or laptop annoying you? Are you multitasking realistically?
Boredom
Are you performing the same show you’ve done for weeks, months, or years? Boredom happens and it’s okay, if you run out of ideas, subscribe to our newsletter or research other models on your platform for inspiration to add exciting new activities to your show.
Anxiety
You may feel anxious if you’re trying out a new fetish or planning a thematic show. You don’t have to perform flawlessly the first or hundredth time you perform. You’ve already lost the struggle with yourself if you don’t give it a shot. But even if it’s just your first try, you’ve at least begun the process of reaching your highest standards of quality.
Instead of believing your work isn’t worthy of a porn film award, concentrate on your abilities, capabilities, satisfaction, and enjoyment. You are a good performer for the person who is paying you and you have to find a midpoint between what you and your audience like. Otherwise, don’t offer it, or practice it privately until you feel like you can sell it.
Toys
Regardless of how well-maintained our toys are, certain materials seem to accumulate dust more quickly than others. Please make sure to wash your toys before and after use with a pH-balanced soap. We all love long-distance remote-control toys. However, excessive use may cause exceedingly rare nerve damage. On the other hand, if you have pets, you may be able to somehow find their fur in your genitalia, which can create discomfort.
Body Image
We all have a complicated relationship with our bodies. We can be self-conscious or think that we’ll be judged by our viewers. Detach from the negative comments and projections. Try positive affirmations in your head during sexual activities, and remember, all bodies are hot and pleasure-deserving.
Sexual Trauma
It is hard to feel sexy when you have been sexually assaulted before. You can have complex feelings about your work and sexuality. If you can’t stop working, you can cope with trauma and mental triggers by getting therapy. Do only what makes you feel safe, sane, and comfortable in your shows.
