The one day out of the year that your fans should really treat you special is your birthday… and most of the time they do… that is if they remember.
Instagram has now made it possible to make sure they won’t forget with a new update called “Birthdays” that was revealed at a recent Meta event in Delhi geared specifically toward GenZ users.
I’m not sure why Meta felt that 11–26-year-olds should be the first to hear about “Birthdays” – after all those young’uns should have no problem remembering things as their memories are practically brand spankin’ new. But then again they were born with a smart phone in their hand that recalls everything for them, so maybe they need this feature more than anyone.
Whatever the case, I think birthday reminders are pretty awesome for any age and that this new update could be handy for your followers.
As explained by Gadgets 360 the feature will give you the ability to add “new pictures or effects like confetti” to your profile photo so fans don’t let it slip that it’s your special day.
Making sure your followers remember your birthday could translate into them visiting you on your cam site and giving you some big tips in celebration or at the very least treating you extra nice on Instagram.
Other updates that were released at the event include “Selfie Video Notes” and “Audio Notes” which can be found in the DM section at the top of the messages. It’s pretty self-explanatory what they do but to be clear, “Selfie Video Notes” gives you the power to create a short video of yourself that will last up to 24 hours, while “Audio Notes” is just that – a recorded note.
Both “Selfie Video Notes” and “Audio Notes” are a quick way to share updates with your fans.
Lastly, according to Meta, the biggest announcement of the Delhi event was the release of their new “Multiple Lists Feature” for use in stories. As reported on by CNBC, “this update will help users create lists for various social circles, ranging from different groups of friends to family, offering more personalized and tailored experiences.”
The “Multiple Lists Feature” could be useful to cammers for organizing fan’s preferences.
For example, you could create lists such as “Cosplay,” “Gaming,” “Horror,” or whatever other SFW sexy content you provide on the app. You know not everyone’s into the same things yet up until the “Multiple Lists Feature” you really had no way to easily send specific stories to large groups of fans based on their likes. Now you can create focused content and share it to the people who want to see it most and avoid those who don’t.
Why would you want to go to all that work instead of just using a blanket approach by letting everyone look at everything?
Nothing makes someone feel more special than a personal touch.
“Multiple Lists” allows you to deliver that personal touch by being specific – that can translate to a very loyal following.
