Back-to-back shows? Haven’t had time to eat? Nothing in your fridge?
I hate to break it to you but without food, your bod has no energy!
I know, I know, you’re an expert on running on fumes but chances are your show is suffering and your patience with fans and anyone you may be working with is wearing thin as you try to cover how cranky you are because you haven’t had a bite since breakfast. To top it off, forgoing meals may also mean your stomach isn’t playing nice.
Hunger pangs often make themselves heard as gurgling sounds during filming – attractive! NOT.
But I get it.
When you’re so busy it’s really hard to stay on a schedule for eating – even though it’s the best way to consume food for good digestion and consistent energy throughout the day (vs. crash and burn until you consume a meal).
So, you need to find quick fixes – snacks or meal replacements that take the edge off.
Below are seven potent hunger-killers with no prep that will keep you going until you can sit down at the table and chow down like a normal person.
- Peanut Butter – Slap it on a piece of bread, crackers, rice cake, you name it – this delicious spread tastes good on just about anything. High in protein and high in fat (remember fat is not the enemy – it helps keep your brain oiled up) this is an item to always have on hand.
- RX Bars – Buy yourself a box so you don’t run out. Made with only a few natural ingredients you don’t have to worry about eating something creepy that’s made in a lab.
- Hard-boiled eggs – Make them once a week – five or six at a time – for grab and go. Check out this recipe for steaming vs. boiling – I’m a convert! You’ll never have trouble getting that pesky shell off again.
- MRE Lite Protein Shakes – These really pack a punch for getting your protein in and they also hold you for a while.
- Papa Steves – Pricier than your average meal replacement bar, they’re worth it because they’re so filled with whole foods you’re full in no time.
- Greek Yogurt – You can of course opt for the regular kind, but I find the heavier Greek style really takes care of the cravings. To take it up a notch throw in some nuts or dried blueberries.
- Avocado – Slice it in half, add some salt and voila! You don’t even need to dirty a dish, a tiny spoon in hand will do the trick. Remove the pit then scoop it right out of the shell.
This is the tip of the iceberg when it comes to quick food ideas but it’s a great start – be creative, ask other cammers what they do in a pinch, and feed your bod, it’ll thank you!
