Facebook is back in the saddle again hoping to steal you away from YouTube, TikTok, and other social media platforms that excel in video.
After stripping creators of bonuses for creating Reels on Facebook and Instagram (though they did swap out a “performance-based model” in its place) and concentrating on taking over the world with Threads (which their evil plan seems to be working), they’ve now got their eyes back on sweetening the deal for you guys by launching some cool updates for video.
And according to Meta…
“… this is just the beginning. We’ll continue developing more tools for creators so they can express themselves, build an audience and earn money, along with the discovery and personalization features that give you more control over your experience.”
Okay bring it on.
As reported on by Tech Crunch, this “new beginning” includes a set of editing tools, discovery updates and a retitling of their “Watch Tab” to scream “Videos” so your fans know exactly what you’re pushing if there was ever any doubt.
The whole idea is to make your SFW videos look better than ever and to make it easy peasy.
Search Engine Land broke down the editing tool updates:
- “Seamless editing: If you use the Meta Business Suite, you can access audio, music and text editing features already available on Reels. These new tools will help you layer and time creative elements more easily, potentially resulting in a higher-quality end product.”
- “More clip editing tools: You will now have the option to speed up, reverse or replace clips, offering more opportunities to get creative with your content.”
- “Enhanced audio: You can now experiment more with sound, including adding music and audio clips, recording voiceovers and reducing unwanted noise.”
- “HDR access: You can now upload HDR videos from your phones to Reels. The clips uploaded can also now be played back in full HDR, resulting in a high-quality end product.”
When it comes to discoverability Meta has also taken it up a notch by employing some fancy dancing behind the scenes.
Using a combination of “human curation” and “machine learning” they’re betting their algorithms will be feeding users exactly what they want to see. In addition, they’ve also tackled “engagement” so your fans don’t need to switch between platforms to comment, they can jot off whatever they want right on Facebook, and it’ll end up on Instagram Reels.
If that’s not enough, their layout’s also touted to be more user-friendly… though I always hate when techs mess around with how things look. Does anyone else feel like once you finally get used to where things are the “brains” screw it up and you’re stuck with a new learning curve?
But Facebook swears it’s “simpler” than what came before.
The main question is, will all these “new beginnings” be reason enough for cammers to concentrate on investing their time in making videos for Facebook/Instagram? If you can keep if SFW, it may be worth it especially if it’s as easy as they say it is.
You’ll have to check it out and see what ya think.
