Taking on Twitter in the New Year

If you’ve been following anything in the news about Musk’s Twitter you know it’s been quite a sh*tshow.

It started with a lot of critical blather from the multi-billionaire about how he would make the site better. This led to his ego buying the company even though he didn’t want it then backpedaling to get out of it when he realized what he had done. After trying in vain to slither out of his purchase, he found himself in court and stuck with the 44-billion-dollar price tag.

It didn’t stop there. After ponying up the cash and bragging about how much better and “freer” he’s was going to make the site he fired more than half the employees right before Christmas, pissed off a ton more resulting in a mass exodus of workers who were fed up with his dictator style of ultimatums, cut a tantrum suspending journalists accounts who dared to exercise their freedom of speech by dissing on him, and attempted to ban promotion of other competing social platforms on Twitter.

His takeover has been anything but smooth. And it shows no signs of stopping.

Twitter has already lost more than a million accounts from people who have given him the finger and want nothing to do with his B.S, and it’s expected to lose over 32 million in the next two years!

Musk knows his days are numbered, in late December he put out a poll asking if he should step down as CEO. To his credit, it’s brave to ask the masses if you suck. Even more kudos to him for saying he’d resign “as soon as I find someone foolish enough to take the job!” after 57.5% polled gave him his walking papers. Don’t get too excited though, Musk will still be lurking around being sneaky if he steps down. He stated he’ll be running the software and servers teams when or if the new “fool” comes to take the reins.

Which brings us to the question – assuming you’ve kept your Twitter account – what plans do you have for Twitter’s possible fall out in 2023?

Are you preparing for the mass upheaval that could happen when he leaves?

What will replace Twitter for you if it goes under? Do you have another place to connect with your fans? Are you working hard on your other social media sites or finding alternatives like the ones discussed in the article by Creative Bloq?

It’s something to think about, and to think about now, because you’ve still got time. You don’t want to have your whole world tied up in Twitter because it’s future is kind of bleak. If you’ve let the other platforms languish because you’ve got a ton of traction on Twitter, the message is, don’t put all your eggs in one basket.

Twitter is in a precarious situation. Hopefully it survives and thrives. But in case it doesn’t…
