About two years ago, I wrote an article talking about bullet journaling as an online sex worker. This has been a method that has worked the best for me long term, and I wanted to introduce it to my other colleagues who might prefer the pen and paper method more.
Bullet journaling is a fully customizable way of planning one’s time in any notebook that they desire, which is why it spoke to me. No more premade planners that don’t have enough space for my entries or have unnecessary add-ons that I’ll never use. A bullet journal can be whatever you want it to be. You can read more about it in my previous article here. However, if this method does not work for you, here are some alternatives to consider.
Premade planners
Maybe even the idea of a blank page intimidates you. Starting a planner/bullet journal from scratch can be overwhelming because there are thousands of different ways to do it. On top of that, perfectionism might be your worst enemy. In this case, you might enjoy using a premade planner like Sex Work CEO planner by Melrose Michaels, or find a generic planner at your favorite store. If you’re a cam model, you might also want to check out dancer planner from Racks to Riches, which can be adapted for your camming needs as well.
Using a premade planner definitely takes the stress away about making everything look pretty, and you can just focus on scheduling and getting your tasks done. On the downside – the space is often limited and, if you want to take lots of notes or have big handwriting, it might not work as well.
Planning apps and software
These days, there are plenty of planning apps and software to choose from, most of it being free or at least having a free plan. Some of the most popular examples include Notion, Todoist, Evernote and Google Keep, among many others.
If customization still matters to you, but you want to plan quickly and efficiently, taking things digital might be the perfect choice. It is especially convenient since you have your phone with you at all times anyway, and there’s no hassle of carrying around a physical planner everywhere you go. And you can easily add links to your sites, articles you want to read and anything else that might come in handy.
The downside? Well, it might get cluttered if you’re not careful and are a digital hoarder like me. I am definitely guilty of gathering too much digital information and then forgetting to organize it.
How do I make things work for myself?
Firstly, no one said that you have to stick to just one planning method. You can plan out your workflow in a bullet journal and organize your chores in notes app, if that’s what your heart desires.
Secondly, if you’re someone who prefers digital organization or a mixed approach, ‘Building a second brain’ by Tiago Forte is a book that you might enjoy. It is so easy to save hundreds of bookmarks and screenshots of useful info only to never use them again because you can’t find it or simply forgot about its existence. If you want to enhance your productivity without losing your mind, this book is full of great tips and methods.
So now what? Get to it! Don’t worry about making everything perfect on the first try. Your notes don’t have to look aesthetically pleasing or be very thorough right away. In fact – sometimes less is more. If you keep using productivity tools to manage your business and life, your methods will change. That’s normal. Don’t be intimidated – take the first step now!
