It’s tough being a social media platform. You’ve always gotta keep up with the next big thing or risk losing your popularity.
Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and probably a ton of other platforms you never think about, have been spending their days and nights thinking up how they can copy other sites – lately TikTok and now BeReal – in hopes to remain relevant.
But maybe they need to remember what they do best and get back to basics again.
It certainly would make it easier for content creators instead of being thrown new things every week to learn, but it’s like an amateur mechanic tinkering with a car, they can’t leave well enough alone until nothing works right. Last week I wrote about how Instagram’s Chief, Adam Mosseri was forced to roll back the most recent TikTok-like update after the Kardashians posted memes to millions of followers saying they were sick of the site trying to be something it wasn’t.
You would think Instagram would get the hint… but nope.
They’ve now set their eyes on BeReal the “authenticity app that’s trying to put an end to retouched, filtered, and cherry-picked photos. In June, I wrote an article about the platform and commented on the irony that they’re all about Being Real yet aren’t real enough to allow the adult industry to use it uncensored. Anyhow, this year BeReal soared to the top of the Apple Store chart with 3.2 million downloads which struck enough fear into Instagram to copy them.
As reported on by DIY Photography, Instagram installed a double camera just like BeReal’s which allows you to capture your surroundings and yourself at the same time. Instagram calls it “Dual Feature” but yeah, it’s identical to BeReal’s concept. You get two perspectives.
So, what does this mean for cam models?
Well, as mentioned BeReal isn’t real enough to let you use it uncensored – their terms clearly state no promotion of sexual content is allowed. Instagram is the same. So, either platform you’ll have to be sneaky and PC, but now you can use dual cameras on both apps.
