When it comes to making money as a cam model, it’s all about the tips. But how do you convert watchers into tippers? To learn som strategies, YNOT Cam spoke with Flirt4Free’s Little Lillyy and Stripchat’s Rapunzel.
“I have been a cam model for just about a year now,” said Rapunzel. “I am a Hall of Fame performer on Stripchat and have just over 220k followers. I work 4 to 6 hours a day on average and bring home a very comfortable living. My biggest tip so far was 46,000 tokens in one tip. It was a new user that spent several hours in my room, tipping to make the show fun.”
“I’ve been camming for about six years now,” said Little Lillyy. “I started at first not really knowing what I was doing or what camming was. I fell in love with it, and the rest is history. The biggest tip I’ve ever received I believe was 10,000 tokens. It happened naturally, just by engaging with the person.”
Since earning tips from viewers is a cam model’s financial lifeblood, we cut right to the chase and asked both women, “What do you do to encourage people to provide tips to you?”
Tipping Strategies: What’s working?
“Earning tips is precisely my lifeblood,” Rapunzel replied. “It’s how I make my living, so learning how to relate with my viewers and encourage them to tip was probably the hardest part of becoming a top model.”
Her tips for tipping success? “I have learned that if you show your appreciation of each and every tip when it comes in, that it encourages the viewers to keep tipping,” said Rapunzel. As well, “a fun and entertaining show definitely sets a mood and naturally people want to keep the fun going. “
Little Lillyyy takes a more laidback approach to this challenge. “My way of encouraging people to tip is just to be myself friendly and bubbly,” she told YNOT Cam. “I try to keep an interactive room even when it’s kind of quiet. You never know what people are going through so you have to be as nice to everyone that comes in.”
This begged a followup question: How do both cam models assess the psychology of the people watching them, and how can they use this understanding to motivate tipping?
“The psychology of people watching me?” said Little Lillyy? “I just think a lot of people like to feel a connection of some sort, if that’s just by talking or feeling wanted. Everyone wants that. I’m aware of that, and I just make sure to always ask how people are doing.”
“Being a cam model is a lot like being a bartender or hairdresser or barber in that people just naturally like to open up to us,” Rapunzel added. “Each and every one of them has their own story and reasons for being online with me. I like to ask a lot of questions and figure out what they came to see so I can continue to keep their attention and earn their tips.”
If some cam model approaches can boost tipping, others can quash it. Pushiness is one of them. “I think the biggest mistake some cam models can make that discourage tipping is being rude or nagging guys to tip,” said Little Lillyy. “If someone wants to tip, they will eventually even if it’s not right away.”
Ingratitude is also a tip killer. “Tips are gifts!” Rapunzel declared. “A lot of cam models don’t appreciate the small tips or show appreciation. Who wants to tip someone that can’t say thank you or show that their gift was appreciated!?”

Given that both of these cam models are succeeding in generating tips, it made sense to conclude this interview by asking what advice they have for other cam models to boost their tipping success.
“Find other models on the site and pay attention to what they are doing,” advised Rapunzel. “If you need help simply ask that model for some suggestions. I have helped dozens of models on our site get things figured out. My biggest single piece of advice is to know your worth and don’t give the farm away for peanuts!”
“Just be yourself, be super friendly and have fun with it,” added Little Lillyy. “If you’re not enjoying yourself, people can tell.”
