Working as a cam model — really, in any online sex work occupation — offers many benefits, from being your own boss to having the freedom to work as little or as much as you desire. However, working online is not all just fun and games. This work can be stressful both physically and emotionally.
Breathwork is a way to release stress by using your own breath and purposely altering your breathing pattern to improve your physical, mental and even spiritual well-being. Breathwork teaches how to breathe while being focused and intentional.
There are five main modalities of breathwork — Shamanic, Transformational, Holiotropic, Clarity and Vivation Breathwork. It can become confusing when researching techniques because many people create their own types of programs by changing names of the modality and “tweaking” the training to focus on different aspects of the breathing exercises.
The following section highlights five of the most popular forms of breathwork. Links have been included so you can explore the different breathwork therapies mentioned and choose the method(s) that resonate with you.
5 Types of Breathwork
This modality helps you to get in touch with your “inner healer.”
Shamanic breathwork is used to help individuals heal dysfunctional patterns in their lives and deep-seated wounds. It is usually performed while laying down and listening to relaxing music. During a session, you will take two short back-to-back inhalations and a single exhalation. This breathing pattern is repeated over and over. Just follow what your body wants to do. You may feel like slowing down your breaths or get quicker.
During this type of breathwork you may find yourself moaning, crying or shaking. All these bodily responses are just your body’s way of releasing any old traumas or stress.
This technique offers healing through the physical, emotional and spiritual. It is like Shamanic breathwork in that it is a cycle of two inhalations and one exhalation with no pausing between these steps.
Everything in this life is some form of energy, also referred to as vibration. People who are experiencing stress or anxiety are functioning at a low vibration or energy level. This type of breathwork is popular to help elevate low energy patterns and help people feel rejuvenated and more peaceful.
This version of breathwork is for people seeking a transformational experience.
Holiotropic breathwork sessions can last two to three hours and should only be done when the practitioner is also with a “sitter” (a person who can observe the practitioner during the session). Practitioners of this modality have shared that it has helped with issues pertaining to grief, improved relationships with their own bodies, a way to find more forgiveness and compassion and many other life improvements.
This modality helps to release stress, fatigue and even emotional trauma by using circular breathing. Circular breathing is simply breathing air silently through the mouth and then silently emptying all air from the lungs. This breathing method is done without any pauses between inhaling and exhaling.
This method of breathwork is used to help people integrate negative life experiences so they can live full productive lives. We all have experienced stress, trauma and fatigue in our lives. However, sometimes these negative feeling become so overpowering that some people cease to feel any feelings including joy, happiness, and bliss. Vivation breathwork focuses on feelings rather than thoughts to heal whatever issues are causing obstacles to feelings of joy and happiness.
These breathwork tactics are worth exploring for, both for daily life in the cam space and for improved health overall. Keeping mindful of your physical and emotional condition will improve your health and psyche, as well as provide a more fulfilling online work experience.
