I don’t know about you, but I think I’m pretty hot — good fitness, nice teeth, and meticulous upkeep on the ol’ lady-scaping. But would I want to have sex with myself? Or cam with myself? I’m not sure.
Masturbation aside (that’s not what we’re talking about here), I’m not sure I’d want to have an erotic encounter of any type with my doppelganger. But I recently learned that now, today, in 2016, you can cam with yourself — or with someone who looks a lot like you, or like anyone else of whom you can find a picture — if you want.
Thanks to the magic of facial-recognition technology, MegaCams is making it possible for webcam customers to fulfill their doppelganger dreams. When you upload a snap of yourself (or anyone else), it processes the image and looks for webcam performers who resemble the person in the photo.
The site pulls from more than 180,000 models by aggregating feeds from Chaturbate, BongaCams, xCams, ImLive, LiveJasmin, and more. With access to all those profiles and sites, the chance of finding a match presumably is high.
A sassy writer over at The Next Web did an interesting experiment with MegaCams’ service. He uploaded a picture of himself, of his (guy) boss, and of a random internet lady model to see how good the matches were. Though the software claimed each result was in the neighborhood of a 40-percent match, visual assessment shows that the guy-to-guy matches were far less precise than the lady-to-lady ones – and that makes sense. There are far fewer men working as webcam models; consequently, there are fewer people to pull matches from.
Though we certainly are seeing more and more women online these days, the fact remains that the overwhelming majority of webcam customers are men. As such, guy models may want to be on the lookout for their doppelgangers — but only, like, a 40-percent-matched version!

MegaCams covers its bases with quite a few disclaimers. They say, “Megacams cannot be held responsible for any of the uploaded images to our facial recognition page. This is user-submitted content, and we have good faith that this is not being used for illegal purposes.”*
Fair enough. Further, by using the doppelganger facial-recognition tool, uploaders agree that:
Megacams.me can store the uploaded image for a period of 24 hours.
They have consent of the person in the uploaded image.
The image data is processed by Microsoft cognitive services.
The image data will be processed in the United States by Microsoft.*
Everything else aside, MegaCams has an interesting service. As a model, it may be interesting to see if your doppelganger actually is on cam too. Give it a try, and let me know what you find! Email me: erika@ynotcam.com.
