I want to talk about something near and dear to my heart.
COFFEE!
Who out there can work without that delightful, delicious, little drink from heaven that makes it possible to give your best self to the world?
If you’re in the “I can’t work without having my coffee” boat like I am, you probably struggle like I do with the issue of what to do when you’ve got to take it to go. Hence the quest for a good mug that’s going to keep your java hot (or cold if that’s how you like it), is made of a material that doesn’t change its taste (say “no” to plastic) and doesn’t leak or spill all over your chest when you drink from it.
You’d think it would be easy to find the perfect coffee to go mug – it’s not!
I have a friend who’s been so frustrated over the years looking for the right container and never finding it that she just gave in and uses her open porcelain cup. And yes, her car stinks, because without fail she ends up spilling it all over the upholstery – imagine the fun of cleaning that up. NO THANKS! On top of it her seats are covered in stains, and it smells like a bad café.
Yech!
In honor of her and to help any of you out that are the same boat I have finally discovered the holy grail of coffee to go mugs after much trial and error.
- Nespresso Nomad Travel Mug – What I like about this baby is the lid which has push button in the middle to let just a little bit out so you can sip your java. Often mugs have too big of a mouth spout or something totally awkward and I take a drink and end up with coffee down my shirt while driving. This will not happen to you with the Nomad! It also keeps your beverage hot for a long time and is big! It’s great for those lattes which always need more space.
- Wacaco Octaroma Lungo Vacuum Insulated Coffee Mug – This is a fantastic container for espresso, it’s also small and compact making it the perfect size to hold in your hands. Also, if you drive a mini – you’ll find their drink holder is not standard size. This FITS! While we’re talking about the Wacaco I also have to mention their killer portable espresso machine – the Wacaco Minipress. Never be without your espresso at a cam event ever again!
- Ello’s Glass Tumbler – Ello makes a slew of great products – I like this one for iced coffee. The rubber grip is super nice preventing condensation and preventing you from dropping it. It also has a nice lid which seals well and the container is made of glass – that means the taste of your coffee is unaltered – everything really does taste best in glass. Caveat – it comes with a plastic straw. Swap that out for a glass one from Simply Straws.
Enjoy your coffee fix without any issues and pick up a mug that makes taking it to go as good as drinking it at home.
