If you’re anything like me, you’ve been in the content creation game for a while.
Like many, I started out by making solo content, and I’ve been doing it for several years. Masturbation, jerk off instructions, ignoring, piss play, giantess, pad fetish… there’s a whole world out there of things that can be filmed solo, but at one point you kind of reach the limit. And then you start thinking – what if I could do more by collaborating with other people? Besides, collaboration is a great way to grow your audience. If you have a partner who is willing to participate in your content, you’re already one step ahead of others.
However, the same paperwork requirements apply to you even when you film with your partner.
You can’t skip uploading the IDs, filling 2257s or model release forms.
What if one day you break up? Your partner might not want your content on porn sites, and if you refuse to remove it, you could get into huge legal trouble. Still, it’s nice to avoid the travel and be able to film collaborative content in your own home. But I’m getting ahead of myself.
How do you even start to collaborate with other people?
What is needed for it to happen in a safe way that makes everybody happy?
Here are some steps to get you on the right path.
- Find some mutuals whose content and vibe you like. Maybe some of your niches overlap or you have similar aesthetics.
- Next, you can meet them in person to see if you vibe. While this is just optional, I prefer to do this because nothing is sexier than real chemistry in the content you create. Usually, the most convenient way to find new collaboration partners is to attend adult work conventions like Exxxotica or even sex conventions like Venus in Berlin.
- After that, you can brainstorm some content ideas. One option is to film one video (or a few) that will go on both of your paysites. Another option is if your content is more different, to film different content for each of your sites.
- Set the time and date for your collaboration.
- Prepare the paperwork needed. When you meet, you will need to take a picture of each other’s IDs, a selfie holding your IDs, fill out a 2257 form and a model release form. A good place to find this paperwork is Sophie Ladder’s website or APAGUnion. Make sure to keep this paperwork in a safe place and don’t lose it. Your paysites can check the IDs and paperwork at any time.
- Get a full STD testing panel. Of course, I’d like to point out that the testing requirements differ between US and EU/UK, so double check the situation in your area. However, so far in the US you need to do a blood test, a urine test and two swabs – oral and anal. In the EU/UK, you need to do a blood test, and a vaginal, oral and anal swab if you’re a vagina owner or a blood test, urine test, anal and urethral swab if you’re a penis owner. Depending on your scene partner’s wants and needs, the test will usually need to be within the last 7 or 14 days.
- Prepare all the equipment you might need for shooting the scene. Lights, a tripod, a camera or a phone, maybe a microphone, an external hard drive, toys and lingerie.
- Discuss your boundaries, needs and wants with your scene partner. Fill out the paperwork. This is the time to discuss on which sites you’d like to post your content and for what price. Nothing is more disappointing than seeing your hard-earned work posted on Pornhub for free when you didn’t agree to it.
- It’s shooting time! Put your best foot forward. Perhaps, start with some teasing material and pictures to use when promoting the content on social media. After that, get to shooting the scene. And, if you want, take a couple of pics of the aftermath.
- Transfer the files to your hard drive. Discuss who’s going to edit the clips or if you’re each going to edit them in your own way.
- Slowly start teasing the content on social media. Agree on the release date and time.
- Boom! You’ve successfully finished your first (or not) collaboration! Here’s to many more!
Now that you’re prepared, go out there and make some awesome content with others. You’ve got this!
