A few weeks ago, I wrote about the pure irony of Twitter changing their name to “X.”
Maybe I’ve been writing about the adult industry too long, but it feels like “X” is a letter that’s reserved for our shenanigans and really doesn’t fit with a platform who has a nice little track record of shadow banning and deleting sex workers’ accounts. But hey at least it’s fresh sounding which is what Musk needs if they want to compete against Threads.
Now that I’m used to seeing “X” pop up instead of that obnoxious bird and settling into the fact that Elon Musk has hijacked the adult industry’s favorite letter, I’m down with it. Making the new moniker even more acceptable is the platform is also changing – and it’s not all for the worse.
Below are what I feel are the three most relevant upcoming fixes X has made that could be beneficial to cammers.
First off, X recently made it easier for creators to score a bigger piece of the pie in their ad-revenue sharing program. As tweeted by Musk “We’ve lowered the eligibility threshold for ads revenue sharing from 15M to 5M impressions within the last 3 months. We’ve also lowered the minimum payout threshold from $50 to $10.”
Now, even more people can get paid to post!

I’d be remiss not to mention that Tech Crunch explained this comes with a little “catch.”
“Note, only views from verified handles count, as scammers will otherwise use bots to spam views to infinity,” stated Musk in a Tweet.
Tech Crunch was quick to point out that this requirement “significantly reduces the pool of money available to creators.” They further reminded us that X doesn’t have a way for users to check their posts’ legit views. “It is unclear how creators will be able to find how many views or impressions their posts received from verified users.”
So yeah, there’s that, but still, let’s stop being Negative Nancy for a heartbeat and look at the fact that it’s a nice step in the right direction – 5M views is a more reachable goal (and you really don’t want spam bots looking at your Twitter account anyhow, you want real people) and you’ll get paid out sooner.
Another encouraging update that X is working on is video calls. This could be really helpful to the camming business if there’s a way to monetize them. Business Insider reported on the upcoming feature which will allow anyone to engage in calls on the app without giving out their phone number.
The last most promising development I’d like to mention is X is currently working on the ability to get rid of that stupid blue checkmark that shows you’re verified. As I wrote about in this past article – “Removing the Blue Tick from Social Media – It’s Not All That” – there’s been a lot of backlash against the symbol because so many bots have hijacked it and you may not want your subscribers to know you’re paying for the premium subscription.
In light of these improvements and all the hate out there… which I’ve definitely been on the hater bandwagon – X is not all bad!
