Anyone who has done online sex work for at least a couple of months knows how tiring and time-consuming it can be.
In our business, we wear many hats, being not only actors, but also our own makeup artists, editors, social media managers, PR people and more. When first starting out, the workload is still quite manageable, but as your business grows, you might need a helping hand.
It’s time to hire a personal assistant!
Now, you might have plenty of questions on how to go about this process and how to avoid common pitfalls of hiring someone. I spoke to Lydia Love and Sara Star to get the perspective of someone who has hired a personal assistant, as well as someone who has offered PA services.
“I have used assistants for my adult content for the last year,” says Lydia Love. “I posted about needing a video editor, and I found my current editor. She is so amazing, and I’m glad that we connected. My other assistant I actually found on Upwork.”
Love currently delegates video editing, preview editing, thumbnail editing, subscribing to expired OnlyFans subs, shoutout for shoutout scheduling and other admin tasks to them.

“For a long time, I put it off because I was scared of getting someone else involved so intimately in my brand,” shared Love. “I didn’t want to come off as inauthentic’.”
She further stated that hiring someone has helped her stress levels a lot. In this ever-changing industry, she isn’t sure if she would be able to keep up without an assistant.
I think Lydia’s experience is a good reminder that you don’t have to wait until all hell breaks loose to hire an assistant. Bringing one on board doesn’t mean that you’re not competent or good enough to run your own business. It is only normal that, as your career grows, you might need a pair of helping hands to help you manage it.
“I’ve done PA work for several years now – I believe about four or five in different forms. I had some experience before the industry, so I adapted similar skill sets to make that work for me and my clients,” explained Sara Star.
In her opinion, a good personal assistant is strategic and tries to think beyond the need or request.
“Sometimes a person doesn’t know all of the services they really need, so it’s important to be aware of other ways you can be useful,” Star mentioned.

PA work for Star has included everything from basic video editing and uploading to writing descriptions with SEO tags or even building entire profile setups on new platforms.
“I’m a bit of a digital ‘fixer upper’ for clients who have content they need to monetize but don’t always know how best to make that happen.”
When looking for a personal assistant, Star suggests looking for someone who understands you and your workflow.
“Find someone who can help you be better at your own job without it appearing obvious,” Star stated.
Where to start when looking for an assistant?
Now, this is a personal choice. You can go the easy route and hire someone you know well, considering that they know how to complete the tasks well. However, it might be an even better choice to hire a professional. You can browse sites like Upwork and Fiverr to find someone. Check their reviews, see what they offer and take your pick!
Which tasks to delegate to the assistant?
What takes the most time in your day? What tasks do you enjoy the least? What are you good at, and what is a hassle?
Asking these questions can help you to decide what you want to leave on your plate and what you want to give to your PA. For example, if engaging with your fans on social media takes up a huge chunk of your day, you might want to give this task to your assistant. Or, if video editing is a complete headache for you, and you think that someone else could do a better job, hire an editor. Doing this will free your time for things that are the most important, such as camming and filming your content.
Now that you know the basics, it’s time to do your research and hire the right assistant to uplift your business today!
