In this article I will briefly outline the hoops and loops you have to go through in order to get verified on a camming or adult site.
The process is quite straightforward, but often frustrating.
The main reason you need to be verified is to prove that you are who you say you are of legal age.
While the methods vary among adult sites, the documents required are always an I.D. and a selfie or a biometric scan of your face. Those are required in order to comply with legal requirements, protect the rights of both parties (you and the site) and to prove consent.
Nowadays, the majority of adult sites outsource the verification process to external companies like Yoti which provides a digital identity service in a safe and reliable way. The process involves a biometric scan of your face and taking a photo of your I.D. – front and back – from the link that appears when clicking on the verification page on the adult site.
Sounds cool doesn’t it?
Well, only in theory.
Even though the instructions are clear, if you encounter any issue, the site you want to be verified on won’t be able to help and you’ll end up getting cookie cutter replies which won’t address the issue.
When I started, this was very frustrating because I had to figure out what worked and what didn’t, and it took a lot of time and patience.
What I have found out is that even though the verification process can be done on a PC/Laptop, in practice, for me, it never worked and I got stuck on a waiting page for a while before getting an error message and having to redo the process over and over. I haven’t figured out why that happened, I had the right lights, a FHD webcam, and the latest version of Chrome, so all the requirements were met, but something just didn’t work.
My suggestion, in order to save time, is to start the verification process directly from your phone.
Use Chrome (Firefox won’t work), clear the browsing data and close all other apps then start the verification process by clicking on the verification link. Be extremely careful when taking the photos of your I.D. – they must be perfectly in focus, without any reflections and they must fill the given frame.
When you are going through the biometric scan of your face, if you are wearing glasses remove them because they can reflect the light and make sure you are well lit from the front in order to avoid shadows on your face – follow the instructions given during this part very quickly.
This has worked for me for many sites, but it took a while to get the hang of it.
Everything else you are required to do before being able to stream or upload videos is very easy compared to the process I’ve just described.
Even though it may vary from site to site, you are generally required to accept the Terms & Conditions. This is very important for the adult industry because legally they are required to obtain informed consent from the creators for their content to be shared on the platform and/or network. This document sometimes requires a digital signature.
You will need to provide an email address (which has to be verified by the site) and sometimes a link to your socials in order to establish user’s authenticity and avoid fake accounts.
Two-factor authentication is very common nowadays, so in order to make your account safer you’ll need to provide your telephone number.
Some sites may require additional verification – like a video presentation or a selfie with a handwritten sign with the name of the website, or a selfie with your I.D. next to your face, so it’s very important that you carefully read the requirements for each platform and plan those around your schedule because some are time consuming.
When you’re starting out those requirements might seem excessive or overwhelming, but the verification process on adult sites is necessary to ensure user safety, consent, compliance and to prevent exploitation and fraud. Bear with it and trust me, when you get the “verification successful” email you’ll be happy and you’ll forget all the little inconveniences you had to go through.
