Want to show your support for LGBTQIA+ and Pride month while also picking up something useful for yourself?
For the second year in a row, Wicked Sensual Care, an award-winning sexual wellness brand which makes some of the best lube products on the market, announced they’ll be running a special campaign which makes it an absolute no brainer to support.
All you have to do is purchase any product from their simply collection and a portion of the proceeds will go toward the Marsha P. Johnson Institute. If you’re not aware of who Marsha P. Johnson is and why she has an institute named after her or why you would want your money to go there, a little education in honor of Pride month is in order.
Johnson was a prominent figure in the gay community – a black trans performer and self-identified drag queen who made her mark in the Stonewall uprising in 1969. She was also an AIDs activist and the founder of Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries. Loved by many she died mysteriously and tragically in 1992 when she was found drowned in the Hudson River. First labeled a suicide by the LAPD, protests ensued, and the case was reopened as a possible homicide. To this day it hasn’t been solved but her legacy lives on in the work the institute does in her name for Black Transgender people.
Founded by Elle Moxley, The Marsha P Johnson Institute advocates for the community by offering fellowships which include workshops and programs, campaigns to support their causes and in Moxley’s words they work to “protect and defend the human rights of BLACK transgender people.”
So, you get the lube, they get the cash, and you’ve done something great for the LGBTQIA+ community with barely any effort at all – Win/Win!
What could be better?
Wait there is one thing that could be better – and that’s the fact that your ability to give and get doesn’t just end after Pride Month is over.
Since 2021, and the release of their simply Aqua Special Edition Lube, Wicked Sensual Care has donated over $35,000 to 21 different LGBTQIA+ charities through sales year round. After Pride Month ends you’ll still make an impact by purchasing the simply Aqua Special Edition Lube as they’ll continue to donate a portion of those proceeds to the LGBTQIA+ community.
