One of my favorite things in the world are horror movies and the whole crazy, awesome, supportive community that comes along with it. If you want passion, just go to a horror convention and see all the weirdos – myself included – who hang out and gush over the dark side of humanity in the most positive way you can imagine.
If you too are a fan you’re really going to enjoy this fun interview by cammer Raven Noir who embraces her horror roots, even going so far as to create content that is incorporated into her work. Also, a gamer and cosplay artist, Raven has some great tips on how to get started in that arena if you’re considering dipping your toes in the water.
Enjoy this interview with Raven Noir – a perfect name for anyone with a love of the horror genre!
How did you get your start?
I’ve always been into cosplay and expressing myself through different characters and costumes. One year at a local convention, I lined up to meet one of my favorite cosplayers. I found out she was a cam girl and was very intrigued. I did some research and before I knew it, I purchased myself a webcam and the rest is history!
You’re a huge horror fan, what are some of your favorite movies and do you bring your love of horror to your work?
I absolutely bring my love of horror into my work. Whenever I incorporate horror aspects into my content, I’m most happy. My favorite content I’ve ever created was a parody of one of my all-time favorite horror movies, Evil Dead.
Other than Evil Dead, my favorite horror movies include Scream, Friday the 13th, Trick or Treat, Halloween, IT, Dawn of the Dead, The Descent, and Train to Busan.
What is the most difficult part for you in creating content and how do you overcome it?
The most difficult part of creating content for me, is translating my content vision into reality.
I imagine how content will look during the planning stage, and when I actually set up the scene, sometimes it doesn’t work out how I imagined it would. To overcome this, I’ve become more flexible with my ideas. Sometimes I create back up scenes during the planning stages just to make sure that everything still flows well, even if I have to alter something the day of.
What is a great piece of advice for those cammers wanting to get into gaming and how do you turn that into a way to earn cash?
For anyone that wants to get into streaming gaming, my advice is to just go for it!
Don’t worry about choosing a current popular game, just play something online that you are familiar and comfortable with. Your audience will feed off your energy and will be able to tell if you love a game and are enjoying yourself. Gaming online feels like a group adventure that you’re all in together and I find it brings my community closer.
There are so many ways to monetize gaming – one of my chatroom’s favorites is to tip me to remove my glasses and continue gaming. They always get a laugh when I’m stumbling around in the game and cannot see anything hehe.
What goals do you have for 2023?
My goals for 2023 are to grow my 3D printing gaming and cosplay business, and I’m also determined to take home my first YNOT award!
