Over two thousand years later, we’re still enjoying the sexiness of the candle.
Invented by the Romans, candles with wicks have been around since 500BC, and no matter how many lighting inventions come and go, none of them seem to beat a hunk of wax as the ultimate aphrodisiac.
Obviously using candles for your only source of light while camming isn’t going to work unless you have dozens of them and you’re willing to risk burning your room down. So, obviously I’m not recommending them for that, what I am recommending them for is their aroma.
Scents are a great way to quickly get you in the mood to put on a sexy cam show.
But not all candles are created equal.
You’ll actually need to spend a little to get a quality item. Sure, some luxury candles are upping the price just so you can get it in that beautiful container, but, mostly, high-end manufacturers are charging more because their scents are non-toxic, and they use soy or coconut wax which burns clean.
Cheaper candles tend to use paraffin (made from fossil fuels), and they use synthetic oils and other harmful ingredients.
You get what you pay for and anyone who has bought a giant wax pillar at the 99-cent store knows how stinky their living space can be once you get it burning. As reported on by Huffington Post, 100% soy and coconut or blends are really what you want and that’s going to cost you because it’s simply more expensive a material than paraffin.
You’ll also want candles that use natural oil blends (not synthetic) and once again that costs cash.
But wouldn’t you rather be breathing in a true Sandalwood than a hint of it wrapped up in the smell of diesel exhaust fumes? Not sexy. Some great suggestions for scents that are proven to turn the heat up in the bedroom come from Byrdie who shared the scientific research (via links) on a few tried and true winners like jasmine, rose, and vanilla.
So read your labels carefully and note that if you’re paying a pittance for a large candle, chances are it’s going to be bad for you, bad for your sex life, and bad for your cam room.
Below are two of my favorites that you can trust:
Keapbk.com – Keap candles have incredible scents made from 100% coconut wax, and they burn for a very long time (45 hours). As a bonus, they also throw in a cute set of matches and their packaging is plastic free. Once the candle is burned, you can clean out the leftover wax, remove the sticker and you have a usable drinking glass. Their products retail at $54.50 apiece but they also offer a subscription service which is a lot better deal. Once you go Keap you never go back, honest.
P.F. Candle Co. – Vegan, cruelty and phthalate-free, P.F. makes their candles with 100% domestically grown soy wax and they retail for $24. Like Keap they’re also invested in the environment, and they work with Climate Neutral to offset their carbon footprint. If you’re not into burning the candles but want the scents that put you in the mood you can also purchase their room and linen sprays for $22 which can be spritzed into the air or directly on to fabrics (test first). One bottle lasts a really long time.
