With all the fan sites out there, it can be overwhelming to decide which you want to join – especially when starting out.
This is why I absolutely love talking with the owners and faces behind some of the most successful platforms out there to give readers the inside scoop on how they run their business and what makes them different from their competitors. This way you can get some first-hand knowledge about the company that can’t be found anywhere else which goes a long way in helping you make an educated decision if you’d like to try them out or not.
This week, I get a chance to talk with Kevin, the Founder of Tempted – a fan site that YNOT knows well and supports. Read on to learn more about why Tempted was launched, what they offer, and why this popular platform may be a fit for you.
How did you get your start in the industry?
I joined a small web development company in 1999 that did a lot of work for the adult industry creating new platforms, landing pages and various software packages. In 2007, I went on to become part of a small team focused on creating a live streaming freemium cam site called Cam4. It took off faster than any of us could have expected so shortly after that, I moved to Romania and set up a development office to help with Cam4’s growth.
What was the impetus for starting Tempted?
Four to five years ago we were tracking the growth of the fan space when we took over the management of Naked News. The fantastic personalities of their anchors combined with some research showed that the biggest fan platform (OnlyFans) seemed to be lacking in a real connection between fans and content creators. This discovery made exploring the space logical.
Our goal then became making Tempted a place that all adult creators could call their own without any fear that it would leave them behind while at the same time creating a close personal bond between the fan and the model or what we call the “Temptation.”
What do you think sets Tempted apart from the other platforms out there?
Tempted is a collaborative platform with features like:
- Friend Connect – Creates a social network between Temptations allowing them to share content, message and create collaborative live shows.
- Spotlight – Temptations can make their friends’ live shows available to their audiences (with consent of course).
- Virtual Party Show – Two Temptations can create a live customer to customer show viewable by their combined fan base.
While Tempted has a full suite of tools for managers/studios we stop short of anything that allow others to impersonate the content creator. The personal experience is key.
We also offer all new Temptations 100% payouts (no tricks) for the first three months they are with us, and that clock doesn’t start until the first sale is achieved. We further have an in-house management team that’s happy to work with any new creators to get them started free of charge.
The group that created Tempted has close to 30 years of experience in the industry and is able to leverage that experience to help cammers improve their odds of being successful.
What are some smart actions cammers can do to succeed Tempted?
I love this question because we recently created a guide to help creators avoid those little mistakes that limit their success. Our team is always in contact with the Temptations, and we feel very lucky to have their feedback. It allows us to learn so we can help others.
If I had to choose some of the actions that have the greatest impact, I would undoubtedly say that cammers should always keep their profile full of new content and that they should also create professional social media where they can announce their activity. Fans need to know where they can find their favorite creators and, once they land on a profile, the first impression is key.
Tell us one or two success stories of creators that really blossomed on the site.
There is a misconception about what can make you successful on a fan site vs. a cam site.
Cam sites have dominated the industry for decades and creators need to understand that a fan is not looking for the same experience on a cam site as on a fan site. Eila Adams, one of our top Temptations offers the authentic Girlfriend Experience and really knows her fans. Elia listens and talks to them like a girlfriend, or a good friend would. Fans also value knowing what worries the Temptations, their most human side.
In a fan site, the most important thing is the bond that is created between a Temptation and their fans, and that bond goes beyond the visual.
As for success stories, all creators have the possibility of adding wishes that their fans can fulfill collaboratively through “Tips.” Recently, Whitney St. John used this tool to help raise money for an association that saves animals. The fans met her goal quickly.
