Curious about mobile streaming and wondering if it can help your business?
This week I’ve asked a model, Robin LeFay, her expert opinion on why you may want to take the plunge and add mobile streaming to your bag of tricks.
Robin is an industry worker of five years who has worked on multiple sites and platforms offering diverse online services to help highlight and give voice to concerns adult workers may face. Nominated twice by the YNOT CAM Awards for “Sex Worker Advocate of the Year” LeFay uses her platform to help others by highlighting concerns or pointing out new services that could help careers.
An advocate of mobile streaming, Robin sat down to give YNOT Cam the down-low on why you may want to try your hand at it, what its positives and negatives are, and if it could be a fit for you.
How did you get your start and how has mobile streaming helped your business? –
I started with camming on a streaming site years ago. I personally have a hard time keeping to a schedule so when I came across mobile streaming years later I realized I could supplement my inconsistency with simply being online more. Mobile streaming made it easier to pop online anywhere at any time.
If you can’t be on at a certain time… just be on all the time! I didn’t have to worry about setting a “stage” and being limited to a single space anymore. This helped boost my already casual and friendly way of doing my job.
What are the positives and negatives of mobile streaming vs. traditional computer webcam streaming?
Web streaming tends to have access to more tools than mobile. If you use or are reliant on OBS or multiple platform streams: that isn’t really possible via mobile yet. This limits using games and other tools that may be very useful. Depending on the site, you may or may not have issues with things such as toy connection (think Lovense).
However mobile streaming makes it so much easier to cam anywhere. People who hop around the house, travel, or just want to do casual streams as they shop have a whole new world of opportunity.
If you web stream do you really need mobile streaming and why?
Depending on your personal business model you may not need mobile streaming at all. Web streaming has been successful without mobile for many many years.
However, for people who may need to look into alternative business models such as myself, it’s a complete game changer. It’s very nice to see how opportunities for being able to create unique experiences per model are surfacing. I feel like mobile is definitely a great tool to incorporate if needed or you’re wanting to experiment with new ways of connecting.
What advice do you have for those looking to get into mobile streaming?
The great thing about mobile streaming is how easy it is to access.
I feel like it’s versatile because you can set it up to use like a traditional staged type web stream or use it to create a more interpersonal experience and have fans follow you around the house. My only advice is to have fun and experiment. I believe it can only enhance your business and your audience experience.
