For those who are thinking about getting into the industry, this article is for you.
If you are a little bit like I am, you are probably asking yourself, “why camming?”
There is no wrong answer – we are all amazingly diverse after all. But I will tell you why I got started and maybe that will help you find your own reason.
At a certain point, I started thinking back to my life and career. I realized that, even though I enjoyed most of the jobs I had, something was always missing: the freedom to be my own boss and the raw passion for the work itself.
Therefore, I decided it was time to reinvent myself. I wanted to stop punching the clock only to pay the bills and I felt the need to try something new, something exciting, something I was enthusiastic about.
Camming came into my mind because I could do it from home and without anyone’s help.
However, I knew it would take time to get it going and wanted to make sure I could manage my other jobs until I could make a living at it. Therefore, I carefully considered my commitments, then decided I would try it.
I started my journey by making an action plan.
That was so exciting!
First, I knew I had to learn about the job itself. Most of the information I found on the web was tailored to female performers and I found very little on male cam models, but what I did was enough to fill my knowledge gaps. Next, I had to find a place for camming, so I redecorated my studio to look right for the shows. Finally, I had to educate myself on the tech involved in streaming.
It took me about three months, but I really enjoy learning new things. So those three months were the most interesting, fulfilling and busiest of all! When everything was set up to the last detail, I asked myself the question: “Why am I doing this?” “Will it be just a hobby or a real job?”
That helped me focus on what I unconsciously had in my mind for years:
I wanted to work in the adult industry, make a living out of it, and do it in my own way.
Due to being stuck in a routine, I had never acted upon those feelings. Now I had!
Camming, for me, was the best way to start this new adventure: it required low financial investment, I had the freedom to choose the hours which suited me best, and I had total control over what I was doing.
Yes, it’s hard work.
At the beginning, especially for a male model, a lot of perseverance is required, and new skills have to be learned daily, but I felt I could make it my own. And so, when the first day of camming arrived, it was like I imagined it would be.
I can’t even begin to describe the excitement I had when I switched on the lights and clicked the “start streaming” button!
As the days passed, I felt more confident, relaxed and I could finally be the king of my room.
It’s been a blast!
To sum it up, my reasons to start camming were several: I wanted a job I could really enjoy, which could fit my busy schedule, with low financial investment and, most of all, I wanted a job which I could make my own.
