“My fans know me as TheFaerieGirl,” we were told, “but with my dearest friends, I go by Soyer.”
Currently age 28, Soyer Daae — aka TheFaerieGirl — has been a sex worker for ten years.
“I have worked and tried my hand within different aspects of the sex work community, learning a tremendous amount along the way,” Daae explained. Within the industry, Dae’s experiences have included working as a cam model, an internet content creator, a sugar baby and more.
Pronounced like “Sawyer Die-Ay,” TheFaerieGirl’s name, work and identity have been an evolving process throughout this time.
“My stage name has changed throughout my career, but the identity of Soyer Daae, and the metamorphosis into who is now known as TheFaerieGirl, is something that I hold close to my heart,” she explained.
One interesting fact: Daae posseses a sort of “global accent.”
“I am ethnically mixed, being both of Canadian and Jamaican descent, and I travelled immensely as a [young person], which has left me with an undeniably noticeable accent,” she shared – how cool!

YNOT Cam: How did you get started in sex work?
Soyer Daae: At 18, I experimented with premium-service prostitution and sugar-baby dynamics, and I began online content selling. These endeavors were successful and ultimately began my journey into the work of adult entertainment.
Although mostly working part-time, I felt included in the sex work community from early on. At the time, I was experiencing tremendous insecurities, an underwhelming sense of self-worth and a support system that didn’t understand my love of the sex work industry. I kept my career as a secret for nearly a decade.
What prompted you to begin your career online?
At 26, with the suggestion of a past partner in combination with what I now recognize to be “grooming,” I began doing NSFW livestreams in March 2021. Despite repeated attempts to communicate my discomfort in performing live sex shows, I continued to deliver public broadcasts.
After a series of physical altercations, I was made to singlehandedly take on full financial responsibility of four individuals and a household, using NSFW livestreams to do so. I realized a serious and immediate change needed to be made.
I broke away from that relationship in the early summer of 2021, continuing to gain growth and traction as a new kind of solo live streaming show. I started to interact and engage with both models and viewers, who uplifted my spirits. These folks felt like long-lost family. It truly felt like coming home. I started to become exceptionally grateful for the industry’s open arms. I felt accepted and protected.
Through my work as a webcam model, in the first four months, I was able to obtain my very first apartment to house my small family. I have since continued to provide for my loved ones while working in this immersive industry.
I am exceptionally proud of this journey and the growth that has occurred because of it. My life has altered greatly in just one mighty year.
What about your non-work life during this time..?
[T]ime apart from the community has included some beautiful adventures. A mentionable few include…
At 17, I was accepted into a major acting/theatre program at a prestigious university. After receiving the most accumulative amount of awards of excellence during a nationwide arts festival, the Toronto university personally reached out, requesting my attendance and early admission.
After thought to where to study, I chose instead to travel casually within Cuba and the Dominican Republic and search for myself there. Upon returning to Canada sometime later, I began to shift my focus back onto vocal performance and the music industry. I studied vocal music in Toronto, Canada in my late teens and into my twenties.
At 23, I was diagnosed with Bipolar 1 disorder, thalassophobia, chronic anxiety, depression, agoraphobia, anorexia and acute PTSD. My wedding engagement, at that time, fell through shortly thereafter.
I’ve spent the last five years on a journey of healing that has knocked me to my knees more than a few times. It’s been a highly uncomfortable process — but, simultaneously, the most phenomenal one. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I get to enjoy an undiluted, uncompromising life, with a steaming black coffee in hand, watching the fireplace flicker gently in the beautiful home I’ve earned for myself.
“Here” is a pretty great place to have reached, inwardly. I love it here. Life is so much more incredible with the perspective I was gifted through experience. Life is good, and I’m grateful I get to be a part of it!

What are some of the best things about working online today? What about challenges?
I truly enjoy my online relationships and building dynamics over the internet. I’ve been interacting online in chat rooms for far longer than I’ve been a sex worker, and it’s among my favorite of the processes, even now.
As a sex worker, I have observed a myriad of instances, both acting as a hindrance and a highlight to the world of adult entertainment. I’m sure I wouldn’t be alone to have noticed them. As a whole, there are huge misconceptions, stigmas and full-on myths that surround and are embedded in the industry.
Oftentimes, adult entertainers are not viewed as successful entrepreneurs or business-savy individuals. There is often a lack of understanding in what truly goes into making livestream, content or personal interaction a successful endeavor for everyone involved. The level of self-education that is undertaken as a sex worker is overwhelming and so often overlooked.
Misconceptions that perpetuate this idea can also been observed in the general public, often downplaying the work involved within occupations such as, but are not limited to, stripping or hosting a premium online platform. There can repeatedly be seen a mistreatment of sex workers and their “fans.” This often leads to blatant disregard of boundaries. Users or “fans” have been observed seeking out personal and romantic relationships with sex workers, targeting them on their free online social platforms.
There is often a misconception that sexually progressive, transparent individuals are wanting and willing to engage sexually with anyone who shows interest. This myth is among the first that needs to adjust for the betterment of the industry and the safety of sex workers.
On a positive note, the inclusive community I’ve found within the sex industry is beyond exquisite. Some of my best, truest friends I’ve met through my online sex work endeavors.
I love when another model or entertainer feels comfortable enough to engage and say hello! It makes my heart feel exceptionally full. I’ve found there to be a freedom that comes with sex work. This industry is not for everyone, but for those who it is for — I can speak from personal experience — it feels like coming home.
I have far more support, stability, financial resources and structure in my life now, as a full-time sex worker, than I ever did before.

You seem to put a lot of emphasis on professionalism, which is awesome. What are your thoughts on creator professionalism? What about the idea of “fan professionalism” (so to speak)?
I think we all have a responsibility to be kind to each other. Whether we are an entertainer or a “fan,” I truly believe we can approach each other with respect and appreciation.
Professionalism is something simple, albeit somewhat challenging at times. It builds a dynamic between client and entertainer that, I believe, can more efficiently benefit both parties. Professionalism acts as a bridge, protecting the model or entertainer. In my experience, it’s far easier to set your expectations, boundaries, prices and so on when a high level of professionalism is displayed.
Aspects like sentence structure, grammar, concisely articulated ideas, aesthetically pleasing layouts and so on further an interaction for both parties that is seamless, harmonious and fun! When information is clearly outlined — things like prices, limits and time frames for production — the simple problems often experienced between client and model melt away.
There is far more room for fun when personal feelings are kept out of the professional mix. Let business be business.
Within the world of couples’ camming, you and your hubby seem to have a really interesting dynamic. Can you tell us a bit about balancing the personal and the professional in this context?
I think balancing any relationship with a passion for your career can pose interesting challenges. I do, however, believe that with the right people and an environment that encourages growth, magic can surely happen, both personally and professionally.
I have found great pleasure in working alongside my partner. His eye for detail and his ability to view a situation from an open, unique perspective allow us to work extremely well together. We know when to allow the other space to manifest an idea solo, as well as when to brainstorm and build up something great together.
There’s a fine balance to be maintained within this kind of dynamic. It’s exciting, fulfilling, uplifting and motivating. We’ve built each other up, and we’re learning every day how to be better.

What are you most passionate about (besides work)?
I am very much still in the creative process NS getting to know myself in this stage of life.
Recently, the household conversation has involved reconstructing a bus/van with the intention of cross-country travel, With the intention of content-creating and live-streaming along the way. Both my partner and I are very seriously considering this venture. I am exceptionally passionate about this idea and bringing it forward into reality.
If you could change one thing about today’s world, what would it be and why?
There’s a comfort I wish we all could experience in our lives, myself included. There’s beauty in a quiet, undisclosed life. I believe there’s something stupendously special in keeping the phenomenal moments to ourselves, shared only with those there also.
Perhaps without feeling that obligation, that need or that want to have our moments validated by another, we may find little pieces of that inner peace. Moment on top of moment, perhaps we begin to remember who we are.
There’s transcendence in the ordinary, and I hope we all find our way home to ourselves.
