Something strange happened when I first got acquainted with Mya and Angelo – I started to hear Harry Belafonte’s “Day-o (The Banana Boat Song)” playing in my head.
This may have been partly because their work world operates under the moniker bigbananamilfshake – so, bananas on the brain, obvs — but I think it’s mostly because of the vibes they give off. They embody a friendly, campy, life-loving energy that’s vibrant, infectious and just a little bit goofy.
Together, Mya and Angelo of bigbananamilfshake have been broadcasters on Chaturbate since August of 2021. Mya is currently age 39, and Angelo is 48. Both are Canadian, but Mya spent a large portion of her life in the Bahamas, while Angelo spent a large portion of his in Italy.
They met three years ago on a “sort of blind date” and “it’s been downhill ever since,” Mya joked, continuing: “It was quite a memorable first date, and we’ve been inseparable since.”
Angelo shared that, “For some reason, at some point in the date, I had given Mya my business card, of which she apparently had left behind on the table after we left. As I walked her to her car and leaned in for that first kiss, I heard someone calling my name. It happened to be the damn waiter interrupting our first kiss to tell me I had left my business card behind. Couldn’t he tell I was busy?!”
…and here I am dying of charming cuteness!

On getting started in working online…
Mya: I worked in corporate and owned my own company on the side. When covid hit, I got laid off from my corporate job, and my company’s industry (event planning) was basically null.
I had a good friend tell me that she was thinking about joining Chaturbate, and my first reaction was, I thought she was crazy. I started doing a bit more research on the site, and on sex work in general. Although it was something I had never thought of doing before and was kind of scared, I wanted to try it and brought it up with Angelo.
Angelo: When Mya first told me about this adult site and that she wanted to try it out, I was totally against it. I think my actual response was “fuck no.” I have a paved world job and imagine if that got out? However, when proposed with the opportunity of having even more sex and getting paid for it, how could I say no?
On bigbananamilfshake (whaaaat?)
Angelo: So, in the beginning, Mya came up with the name bigbananamilfshake in one of her latenight brain storms. I’m the bigbanana, she’s the milfshake!
Our first broadcast was a sex ticket show, which ended up in a complete disaster. We had no idea what we were doing. Not the sex part, that we had down pretty good, but we had internet issues, bot issues, mod issues and all around just being nervous. Eventually we figured things out and had a lot of people within the community help us out.

On balancing public and private lives…
Mya: It was a bit of a whirlwind as our room grew fast, reaching 10K followers within the first two weeks with only being part-time cammers.
We loved getting to know people and connecting with others through such a weird time, however, we discovered after a few months that the live sex shows were not working well for us in our relationship. Angelo works out of town part of the week, so we would cam when he was home, and the only intimate time we ended up having together was being spent on camera and shared with others.
Angelo: Don’t get me wrong, the sex was great, but I knew we had to change our room and create something together that still allowed us to have a private and intimate relationship away from the camera. It was during a camming session, where we were being goofy and spanking each other that the idea of having a “battle of the sexes”-type room, with teams, was introduced.
Mya: Yes, it was in that show, that Angelo’s wolfpack team first became a thing. A lot of what goes on in our room tends to be a collaboration of ideas with us and our viewers. The wolfpack team was created that night, with Angelo and one of our loyal supporters. I of course then needed a team of my own, and with the help of one of our first supporters (and now mod) the Boobee Brigade was formed.
Angelo: Those damn bees… they are the bane of my existence!
The teams became very popular, with viewers choosing sides and tuning in each weekend to decide punishments and see the outcome of the competitions we created.
Mya: As a result, we were able to expand our camming area, and it was shortly after Angelo’s birthday, that Bananigan Island was born.
We wanted a space that was solely for camming and would lend to all the “bananigans” that take place on the show. The term “bananigans” came from a cam friend of ours when she was describing all of the shenanigans on Bananigan Island. So, we revamped our room, bio, online presence and space to completely support the Bananigan Island theme. Because literally, every weekend our room was going bananas.

On Chaturbate (and keeping things fresh!)
Mya: Being on Chaturbate has literally been one of the best experiences for me. In the beginning, having a place to connect with people when our worlds had shut down was lifesaving. It has flourished into a successful business that has now become my sole income. I could not think of anything I would rather be doing. I get to plan parties every weekend, actually enjoy those parties, connect with people all over the world, build friendships, travel, create something with my best friend and get paid for it all.
Angelo: I’m still searching for where Mya buries the golden tokens — so I just show up, take part in the show, and hope one day I will find these things they call tokens!
In all seriousness, creating these shows every weekend has been completely insane in the best way possible. Every weekend we are left awestruck with what happens in our room and how supported we are. Who would have known any of this was possible…
Mya: definitely not me, based on our first stream!
Angelo: I think for us, our biggest challenge in this industry is how to keep things fresh and new. Viewers come in and see so much craziness going on, but we want to keep people engaged, interested and invested, so we are continuously trying to create and come up with new ideas. To be honest, Mya has one of the most creative minds for this type of thing, that I have ever seen. She is the brains behind a lot of the games and activities.
Mya: As partners we complement each other pretty well. I may plan the activities, but no one can pull them off quite like Angelo. He even throws in an occasional broken prop — or bone — which has become an ongoing comedic factor in the room.
For real though, he is pretty clumsy, and has hurt himself — and our furniture — on numerous occasions.
Angelo: Hey I do my own stunts, Jackie Chan got nothing on me!
On life outside online work…
Mya: We both have similar interests outside of online work. We love working out together, cooking, baking, cosplay, dancing and being with family and friends. One of our biggest passions is helping others and doing volunteer work.
Before we started camming, we would make it a habit to dedicate days to visit senior homes, volunteer at various charities or plan RAOK days. We have been able to incorporate this passion into our stream as well and have been able to help raise money for NAMI, OAR, PCF and recently did a fundraiser to purchase Poinsettia plants to deliver to local seniors who were separated from their families on the holidays.
Angelo: It has been so rewarding to be able to utilize our platform to help others and to be able to share some of what we have been blessed with. We hope to be able to continue to plan these types of events, and continue helping where we can.
Mya: Along with this, one of the things I enjoy the most, is being able to have a platform and space where people can come to escape and have fun. So many have felt alone and detached during these times, and being able to provide a space where they can be a part of a group of friends, feel accepted and appreciated, hopefully helps others as much as it has helped me.

If the Rulers of Bananigan Island could change one thing about the “real” world, what would it be and why?
Angelo & Mya: What would we change… great question. We don’t want to get political or philosophical here, God knows we don’t need another Dr. Phil *but* if there is one thing, we would change in this “new world” we all live in during this pandemic is the way we humans are treating each other and segregating from one another out of fear.
Fear has always been the key factor in creating so much travesty in the world. Fear of war, fear of disease, fear of race or religion. If humanity could only learn to live with knowing that 7.5 billion people are not all the same and accept our unique personalities and beliefs, this planet would be a lot better off.
