A media kit is a document containing information about your business, product or event. It is essentially your digital resume that outlines your bio, stats, work history (companies you have worked with, collaborations, etc), projects and lists the previous press you have received.
Why is a media kit needed for your brand?
If you are just starting out in the business, you probably don’t see the necessity for this invaluable resource. The truth is, you do! When you get further and further into your career and business, you will realize that you have interviews, featured articles, podcasts and all kinds of media attention that will be difficult to organize and even recall later on. Your media kit helps you organize everything you have accomplished in your career as it is happening.
This kind of organization will be appreciated later when someone books you for an event, guest appearance or even a potential gig when you can clearly outline the work you have done with links and your full adult digital resume. You then save the person on the rabbit hole search for finding your work that will more than likely bring up tube site content and any other links you have no control over through their search. You control the information they are finding by giving it to them in a clear, neat and organized media kit presentation.
This will be appreciated as it saves time, includes photos for promotion and will show industry professionals and media companies you are serious about your business and well organized. You will appreciate that you don’t have to create this list and collect the information over and over again as you keep your list updated as new material is released and new events take place that need to be added.
Where do I send my media kit?
Just as with sending out press releases and media pitches, knowing when and where to send your kit is crucial. Before sending it out to everyone in the media or adult industry, spend time researching publications and media outlets to know which ones are most likely to cover your brand.
If you have a publicist, they will handle this for you. If you handle your own PR (public relations), then this will be a great resource for requesting to be a guest on a podcast, show or any kind of media outlet.
For anyone in the business, whether a team of professionals or individual artists doing their own marketing for themselves, having a media kit will be a great tool to save you time and help you achieve additional exposure for your brand.
It's not even NOON and I already have accomplished SO much. Great sleep, woke up energized & refreshed. First time in a LONG time!
