It seems like every month on the cam calendar comes with a contest. February has all these hearts, March has all these clovers and there’s all these contests during summer that are about barbecues and fireworks. No month seems to have as many contests as December though.
For instance, we recently got some press about a contest happening on Sex.cam during the month of December (copyedited for clarity):
Christmas will soon be here, and Sex.cam wants to make this Christmas an unforgettable holiday!
Annually, Sex.cam has rewarded the most active models during December, and this year will be no different. This contest covers data [factored into] the calculation of [a model’s] CAMRANK performance index: the number of first-time spending customers in December 2019.
$17,000 will be divided amongst the models that have the largest number of customers making their first expenditure in their chat room over the period from December 1st to December 31st. The number of clients spending credits for the first time between December 1st and December 31st (Amsterdam/CET time) is the only factor that will be counted for the ranking, regardless of the amount.
Some examples that will contribute to a model’s ranking:
- A visitor registers on XLoveCam, adds credits to his e-wallet and makes a first expense with you (in a private show, a bonus, a subscription to your VIP content, a vibration on your sex toy and so on).
- A customer registered on XLoveCam before December 1st, adds credits to his e-wallet for the first time and makes a first expense with you (a private show, a bonus, a subscription to your VIP content, a vibration on your sex toy and so on).
Something that will not contribute to a model’s ranking:
- A customer registered before December 1st, having added credits to his e-wallet and spent credits before December 1st, will unsubscribe to re-register, add credits to his e-wallet and spends those credits between December 1st and 31st
The names of the winners will be announced individually to the top 100 models of the contest. Please note that we will not announce the winners publicly for privacy reasons.
The cash prices are as follows:
$3,400 for the 1st place
$1,140 for the 2nd place
$800 for the 3rd place
$570 for the 4th place
$340 for the 5th place
$115 per model for the 6th to the 100th place
This contest is open to all models including independent models, models with studios, newly registered models and models of experience.
This contest seems like a standard contest promotion form that helps models, as well as the network itself, by focusing on new, untapped customers. What’s interesting to consider though is the prevalence of new, untapped customers — and why there may be more of them coming around during the month of December.
There are many reasons people might be more inclined to look for companionship online during December, from grieving to loneliness to simply needing a breath of fresh air after finding one’s self back at one’s mother’s house as a grown ass adult. Some of these reasons may be difficult, others joyous, others simply stressing relieving. It’s interesting to consider contest initiatives in light of the various visitor motivations one might be seeing during December.
Also — and not to put too fine a point on it — it’s important to consider *you* within the context of all this December pressure, be it good or bad or both. With everything else that’s going on this month, do you need to be pushing yourself to the limit for a contest? Are you ready for the wide range of emotions and experiences you may be faced with, experiencing yourself and/or experiencing by proxy as this seasonal traffic comes in?
These are all things to consider during December contest month. There are no “right” answers, there’s just the answer that’s right for you. Remember to be real with yourself when you’re thinking about where to channel your energies this month. There’s still a lot of December left!
