I was surprised when a domme recently told me she could never cam because she isn’t “cam model material.” The thing is, high traffic cam sites offer significant potential for a domme’s business. High traffic sites can increase following, sales and success.
To be fair, camming in of itself is far from easy, and it can be even trickier for femdoms due to entertaining a non-vanilla audience.
Since camming as a femdom varies from vanilla camming, here are a few tips and tricks to consider.
The Basics: Technology
Ensure you have the proper technology:
- Webcam
- Lighting
- Microphone
- Bluetooth speaker
A decent webcam and lighting are the most important. The higher quality stream and recording, the more potential customers you attract.
Some additional items for consideration:
- Outfit (aligned with your branding)
- Hair/makeup
- Toys/implements
- Background (non-cluttered area, interesting background)

Nude or Non-Nude?
You’ll need to decide whether you will cam nude or non-nude. Some femdoms enjoy using nudity or masturbation with a BDSM twist, while others stay fully clothed. The choice is yours, and there is no right or wrong way to cam. Ensure you’re being true to your brand.
Platform
Choosing the right camming platform(s) is a challenge in and of itself. Consider: Freemium or Premium? Skype shows only? Tip menu? What’s my payout percentage? Does the site have decent traffic? Is there a kink/fetish audience?
Per Empress Mika via Domme Source, “Unfortunately, there is no magic answer to this question. If one cam site was the ‘best’ for FemDom, then there would only be one site on my list instead of several options. The better way of asking this question is, ‘What is the best cam site for you?'”
The best advice is to choose the site that works for you and your brand.
Understand Kinks and Fetishes
If you are new to the scene, be wary of the “Insta-Domme” reputation. It will become apparent very quickly (to submissives and fellow dommes) that you are new and lacking knowledge about kinks and fetishes. Do your homework and be honest about the length of time you’ve been a domme and practicing certain kinks and fetishes.
The people that approach you often have multiple kinks and fetishes. The more you know, the more you profit. Study up and practice! Empress Mika has an article dedicated to this topic on Domme Source.

Non-Vanilla Games
Keep the room energetic with games that work to your advantage. Use a wheel, play hangman or create a raffle, but include a kinky twist. For example, I’ve created multiple wheels that submissives spin depending on their kinks. They must do whatever it lands on. I will sprinkle in prizes (free clip, free picture, etc), but unlike vanilla rooms, they do the task and work to entertain me.
Focus on Your Brand
If you utilize a persona, you will need to maintain the persona while camming. Perhaps you promote yourself as very sadistic, or, on the other end of the spectrum, very nurturing. Keep the promise you made while marketing yourself offline/off cam. Say and do things according to your brand as a domme.
Always Upsell
Remember your ABCs: Always Be Closing. Now, as a domme, you don’t ask — you tell. Tell them to take you private. Tell them to follow you on social media, be it mainstream or industry specific. Tell them to go to your clips store. Tell them to visit your website.
The key is to make them aware of all the ways they can pay you.
Pro Tip: Upsell clips, items or services that are aligned with their interests. For example, when wrapping up a private Jerk Off Instruction session, direct them to your latest JOI clip.
Know Your Limits
Know your limits and have them listed (when TOS allows). This reduces time wasted by people asking if you do “this” or “that” when the information is readily available. You can direct time-wasters directly to your profile.
Create Room Rules
This will be unique to each domme, and your rules will change over time with experience. What will you absolutely not tolerate?
Pro Tip: Block, ban or ignore time-wasters immediately. Do not argue with the trolls. They belong under a bridge. Kick them out immediately and don’t waste your energy.
Create a Clip Store
Aerie Saunders covers this topic in her article “Getting Started as an Internet Domme” and provides invaluable insight.
iWantClips is one of the primary femdom clip sites. Create a store so your followers can purchase your content 24/7. This is crucial to creating and maintaining passive income.
Pro Tip: Sell non-clip items in your store as well, such as: snapchat subscription, custom content, photo sets, applications, contracts, etc.
Consistency is Key
Whether it’s your cam schedule or content creation schedule, stick to it. When customers like you and can rely on you, they are bound to return for more.
Last but Not Least
Don’t be afraid to get creative! As long as you acknowledge and respect limits, have fun and exercise your creativity! Whether you’re dishing out tasks or doing a scene, creativity and originality are always best.
