There are some words and ways that get a bad rap: efficiency, double-duty, multi-purpose and so many more. And sure, it’s nice to keep cam life and IRL somewhat confined to their separate spaces in our days and consciousness. But when it comes to things like trends and fast fashion, it’s not bad to get the most out of items that are fashionable and on-trend via concurrent use as sexy props in your cam shows, too.
The world is full of trends that come and go. This natural ebb and flow of the fashion world can be frustrating and strain your cash flow. Thankfully, sometimes products are miraculously on-trend and double as fun show props.
1. Eccentric sunglass chains are perfect for various show vibes
Sunglass chains — the classic grandma-chic eyewear accessory — are “in.”
According to StyleCaster, this “trendy retro” fashion revival made its return in March 2019 when “a Free People representative told StyleCaster that sunglasses lanyards — chains that attach to the sides of your sunglasses and drape behind your head, like a backwards necklace — were poised to be big come summer 2019.”
So far, Nasty Gal, Urban Outfitters and Free People are selling these chains.
When you’re not rocking this look on the beach, by the pool, lakeside or at your favorite brunch spot, consider wearing it with your real or prop glasses in any beach babe, poolside socialite or sexy nerd, librarian-specific online cosplay.
2. Denim jumpsuits that will most def be out of style by 2020
Wearing an outfit that covers a decent portion of your body in heavy material — say, denim — may not seem like the best summer buy, but here we are. According to StyleCaster, summer’s “quintessential piece” is the denim jumpsuit.
“Though jean skews a little heavy for the calendar’s hottest most oppressively humid months,” the style website admitted, “denim jumpsuits offer a timeless appeal that transcends traditional temperature concerns.
“Sleeve lengths come as varied as necklines — with spaghetti straps as abundant as long sleeves, and deep Vs as ample as high-neck zip-ups,” StyleCaster added. “Legs come in wider cropped styles, tapered skinnies, rolled-up relaxed renditions and everything in between. Waistlines are present and not-so-present — adorned with belts, or embellished with nothing at all.”
To make this piece worth your bank account’s chagrin, consider wearing your jumpsuit in a ‘70s fantasy show. Or, better yet, as a piece that takes a bit of time to take off for a private striptease.
3. Lace-up sandals for the gladiator in you
According to Glamour, those who know fashion “are gravitating toward sandals that are easy, uncomplicated, and, above all, pretty” this summer.
One style that seems to be quite popular is the simple lace-up sandal. “They’re timeless, versatile, and perfect for showing off your favorite nail color for the season,” Glamour added.
This sandal style is the perfect shoe-wear for any foot fetish show or spunky gladiator cosplay.
Look, we all love to add a little spice and sass into our wardrobes. If you are going to shell out $60, $40 or even $20 on a fast-fashion item that likely won’t last more that a season — both in terms of trends and in terms of quality — why not also get some “props” out of it? It’s a win-win to be efficient in this way.
