Certain tools make any job easier. As a cam model, you know up-to-date and functioning technology is necessary for survival and spotty internet can sink your enterprise really quickly.
We asked Lindsey Banks about the hardware and technology she uses to remain successful.
Laptop
Banks says that the first basic thing a model should invest in is a good laptop. She added that most laptops have built-in webcams and that anyone can easily broadcast off of them. “For quality, an external webcam will probably be best,” Banks shared.
“I’ve been happy using Logitech branded webcams for years. The last one I purchased was an HD 1080p Logitech, which worked amazing. Lucky me, I participated in a Twitter competition at the YNOT Cam Awards in Los Angeles this October and won one of the latest Logitech webcams, the BCC950 ConferenceCam!” she shared.
Banks recently used the cam for the first time online and reported that the clearer stream/audio was noticeable, according to members. “I am really happy about the awesome remote, as well as the different ways you can utilize it for business,” she said.
Banks added that there are some differences in the performer app on certain laptops on Flirt4Free, a site she uses. “For me, I think the performer application is made better for the windows/hp computers,” she said.
“For quality and long lasting performance… lol… I’d say consider looking at a Mac. I had a Macbook Pro purchased for me by a member years ago, and it’s still going strong! Less than a year ago, I also purchased a smaller Mac for traveling.”

Know when it’s time to upgrade
Banks said that it’s a model’s responsibility to take note when noticeable technology issues keep happening. “It’s probably time for a new webcam if the stream keeps blanking out anytime you move the wire,” she said.
“Upgrading a laptop for more storage or just getting a new one because it’s smaller and easier to travel with is reasonable enough for me to get an upgrade,” she added.
Lighting
Banks says that one of the most important aspects of any room is its lighting. “Putting my room together consists of different things depending on where I am and what variables I’m working with,” she said. “But one of the essential basics I keep in mind is lighting.”
Banks said that although natural lighting from the sun works great at the right angle, a model can use artificial lighting, too. “[Artificial lighting] looks great with adjustments, just make sure [the light’s] not too close to wash out color,” she said.
Banks added that when she’s not camming at home, she uses a small portable laptop/cellphone light she got for free at a convention.
Toys
Banks thinks that one of the technological advancements a lot of models don’t think about is sex toys.
“Teledildonics is moving into an upgraded era of two-way interactive communication,” she explained. “Flirt4Free is one of the cam companies that provides compatible interactive sex toy interaction over cam. The OhMiBod toys have had lots of success in the world of camming and Kiiroo’s inventions, such as the Pearl, Fuse, and Launch, are some of their popular gadgets.”
Banks added that “hardware-wise, being able to choose from new tech is always interesting and tends to keep members engaged. It’s possible to even get products free sometimes if you are willing to give testimony during the testing and roll out phases.”
Don’t be afraid to report tech issues
Banks was being very forthcoming when she shared that, although she knows the tech she needs to be successful, she isn’t tech savvy.
“So, if I have tech issues that I can’t resolve after a couple of attempts, I contact someone from the Flirt4Free office,” she explained. “Luckily, they have someone in tech support who can chat over the phone or via messenger to quickly assist in troubleshooting any technical issue with the website or performer application… Thankfully.”
Do not be afraid to reach out to your network or whatever platform for assistance with tech issues that you can’t reasonably solve. It helps them to help you!
