When you work in the sex industry, it’s easy to let play become work and it’s sometimes slips one’s mind that intimacy is an important part of both a healthy relationship and, indeed, life.
With the significance of physical and emotional intimacy in mind, sex toy manufacturers have been raising the bar so far this year with a plethora of exciting new concepts – and for me, none have been quite so monumental as Zumio.
I came across Zumio as a reviewer. Innovative products make ripples from their first few reviews, and the stuff I was reading about Zumio left me hotly anticipating it landing in my “to do” pile.
Zumio’s Halo-Effect
What makes Zumio different from other gadgets? Firstly, it’s not a vibrator. Zumio is an oscillator. The design of Zumio is not dissimilar to an electric toothbrush in shape, and it doesn’t look like a sex toy.
The ABS Spiro TIP on the Zumio moves in a manner that mimics the rotating finger movement used by a lot of women during masturbation. This slim, delicate is perfect for direct stimulation, although — due to the truly ridiculous speed at which this toy can more — this halo of movement can be very intense.
There is no messing about with Zumio. Its stimulation is deep and straight to the point, resulting in fast and no frills orgasms every time for me — perfect for unwinding after a long night or an exhausting day at work.
Speaking of work, Zumio’s intensity would also make it perfect for using on camera. It’s great for multiple orgasms as even the lowest setting is incredibly strong.
Zumio is also extremely quiet, almost unbelievably so given the power it contains. In terms of performance, a quieter toy would be beneficial to your viewers, allowing them to hear your responses better.
By Women, For Women: Zumio’s Backstory
Whilst Zumio’s performance certainly keeps it in my “Favorites of 2018” category, there is more to this story than just an awesome product. Zumio was developed from an idea by a single mother. She was frustrated by what she felt was poor design in a lot of toys for women designed by men.
On their website, Zumio explain:
The idea for Zumio was born out of frustration when a very busy single mother with young children wanted a way to achieve orgasm when she had a moment to herself. She wanted deep stimulation and precise control, but all the toys she tried—mostly designed by men—were limited to direct stimulation of the clitoral button, used irritating vibration, or were too big to pinpoint specific sensory areas.
Female designers solved the problem by taking the circular fingertip motion concept to a new level. They figured out how to gain precision and control by shrinking the tip size and generating satisfying, whirling pulses that could be concentrated on smaller areas. After many prototypes and three years of testing, Zumio was introduced.
Focusing on intense stimulation helps to maximize the little time we can put aside for our own pleasure. In this respect, the design is exceptionally clever. It makes focusing on your own pleasure easier, with super-fast results.
Zumio’s Veronica Farmer Shares Some Insights
I was so impressed with Zumio that I reached out to the distributors Eropartner, who I met at Eroticon where they were showcasing the new Zumio Caress model. They put me in touch with Veronica Farmer, Chief Experience Officer at Zumio, so I could have a chat with her.
I asked Farmer what Zumio put the success of their flagship classic model down to? She told me that, “For a product to be successful, it must possess a wide variety of characteristics. It must generate curiosity, be distinctive, intelligent and thoughtful. It must be of high quality in every respect, body-safe and exude value.”
“But most of all, the experience it delivers must be tangible and memorable. Zumio was designed with a powerfully pleasurable orgasm as the driving force. Technology, design, functionality and material selection were all subservient to the desired experience,” she added.
Zumio certainly does deliver memorable results, and for me it’s become a go-to toy. (Truth: It never leaves my bedside.)
Given the lack of oscillation-based devices in the toy industry, I asked Farmer if she felt this was the future of female masturbation.
“Yes, we believe oscillation is a part of a larger transition in the industry,” she shared. “Vibrators have been a mainstay in the industry from the beginning. Amazingly, vibrators have stood the test of time better than technology in virtually all other industries. Eventually, however, all technology gets supplanted by newer approaches. Zumio is proud to be a pioneer in this transition.”
Zumio’s “designed by women for women” approach is something with great appeal.
Farmer assured me that the current Zumio products are just the first of many that will be focused on the pleasure industry. With this on the horizon I shall be watching Zumio closely.
