Pornhub adopted a new technology that’s made tagging its performers — and their sex acts — much easier. The tube site publishes quite a lot of content and claims 80 million visitors a day. Its rudimentary way of tagging videos by hand — with tags that included information about actors, sex acts, etc. — became quite a pain. So, the site developed a robot that Pornhub claims more accurately tags actors and acts in its videos.
“Ultimately, we want to provide our fans with whatever it is they have a penchant for, and our new model will be able to surface more accurate results for them, which will hopefully keep them coming back for more,” said Vice President Corey Price told TechCrunch. “It’s all about continuously updating our platform to provide our fans with the latest in technology to make their experience on our platform as seamless as possible. The easier it is to navigate and access what they want, the happier they will be.”
Robot specifics
According to TechCrunch, the company’s “computer vision system,” an advanced search robot, can identify actors in scenes. In fact, the “robot” even can identify certain positions, sex acts and performers’ physical attributes, including when performers perform in “real time.”
Price said so far the robot model has been used on almost 500,000 featured videos. Some were submitted by users. He also said the company plans to robot-scan its entire library by the beginning of 2018. Actor-tagging will launch first, followed by sex-position and category tagging.
TechCrunch pointed out this type of human-movement recognition goes far beyond simple facial recognition, especially if the site’s robot actually can categorize videos and images based on performers’ various attributes.
What this means for you
Obviously, this type of super-precise technology could help improve cam search results quite a lot.
Fans potentially could find your images and videos based on certain poses you frequently use or the acts for which you’re known. If the video search does end up working in real-time, search results benefits potentially could be even greater.
There’s no telling how long it will take this technology to reach other porn sites and cam sites, but the mere announcement of its existence seems like a game-changer for the entire industry and tech in general.
