Vicky Vixxx earned her teaching degree immediately after completing high school. Soon thereafter, she began working at a non-profit preschool serving low-income students, developmentally disabled youth, and young people with behavioral challenges. She eventually switched to first grade, teaching until she became a parent herself.
By all accounts, Vixxx’s life seemed textbook vanilla, but things were about to take a turn for the wild.
“Back in 2011, one of my friends from a moms’ group I was in at the time came to my naughty brownbag party and bought, like, five dildos,” Vixxx said. “I thought it was kind of odd, so I asked her why. She then reluctantly told me about webcamming, and I said ‘I can do that! Where do I sign up?’”
Before she just jumped online, Vixxx did a little recon. She observed other models in open chat for about a week to get an idea of what they were doing. Eventually, she took the plunge.
“I started as a hobby and to make a little extra money at first, but then I lost my nanny job unexpectedly, with no notice,” she said. “Being a single mother, I had to think fast. If I went back to teaching, my whole paycheck would have barely covered the childcare for my little one, with just a little left over. So I decided to give webcamming a try.
“I would work for a few hours at night after my child went to bed, and I almost instantly doubled my teaching and nanny income,” she continued. “I was able to afford to put my child in daycare three days a week and started webcamming full-time. It literally saved me as a struggling single mother.”
Now in her early 30s, Vixxx has turned sex work into a full-time business. She works as a fetish model, pro domme and content producer, and also runs a webcam studio. A true exhibitionist, Vixxx has found her calling — a place between sexual adventure-seeking and helping others satisfy their desires online.
YNOT Cam: Your public exhibitionism shows are kinda legendary, but you don’t seem to do them as frequently now. How come?
Vicky Vixxx: When I first started on cam, I became very popular because of my public exhibitionist shows. There were only a few of us that did them back in 2011 and ’12, and it caught on quick. Other models started doing them very carelessly and ended up getting caught or showing minors on camera, so public shows were banned from multiple sites. I still do my public shows every so often though. I’m very careful, and my fans love them.
You do a lot of clips work, but you only cam on Streamate via VickyVixxxLive.com. What about that platform appeals to you?
I cammed on several sites for about three years before I settled on Streamate. I didn’t like that most sites allow models to get nude and do shows in free chat. Anyone can be in there watching you, and you will never know. Also, with Streamate, you are not allowed to show below the belt in free chat. They are pretty strict about that rule. I like it because it cuts down on the thousands of freeloaders that are on other sites. I feel like I’m getting paid for working when I’m on Streamate, not working to maybe get paid if the guys decide to throw me some tokens after a show or tease.
You went from exhibitionist shows to cam to clips. How did that evolution come about?
When I moved to Florida in 2014, I knew a bunch of models and producers who strictly worked in fetish who I’d met from all the conventions I attended as a webcam model. I instantly started shooting fetish clips for other producers and, shortly after, opened up my own video stores. It was a nice, refreshing break from camming and just what I needed at the time. I also learned that I am a fantastic actress and actually really enjoy it.
Now I balance my time between producing fetish clips, webcamming and doing real-time dominatrix sessions in Tampa. I do not cam nearly as much as I used to, but when I do get on cam its fun again — almost like when I first started!
Aside from the more conventional opportunity to act, how is shooting clips different from cam?
Getting started in webcamming definitely helped me dive into the fetish clip producing. Before I started webcamming, I hate to say it, I really had no clue about “fetishes.” There are some pretty extreme ones out there and so, being on webcam, I had done several private shows involving fetishes that are maybe out of the “norm.” I feel like that geared me up to me be very versatile and open-minded as a fetish model. There is not much I will not cater to as far as fetishes, role-play and fantasies go. When I am making a clip, I am playing a role. I am an actress, even if I personally enjoy the fetish, so very few things are off limits for me.
For models who are working only on cam now, how can clips help or enhance their work, earning potential or public reach?
I find that not all people who like watching videos like watching live cams, and vice versa. Therefore, you can reach more varieties of consumers if you do both videos and live webcam.
What one key piece of advice would you give newer models? What advice would you give more experienced models?
For new models, do your own thing. Do not try to copy someone else. Something that works for them may not work for you. Fool around and adjust your rates until you find something that you are comfortable with and you feel like you deserve. Do not sell yourself short. Some models are higher priced, and some are lower. Find what makes you happy.
For more experienced models: Do not let people waste your time. When you have a big fan base, there are more people wanting your attention. Make sure they pay for it. I learned the hard way, and I still am learning. Lots of these guys jerk off reading your responses to their ridiculous emails with “questions” about purchasing a video, Skype show, or merchandise with no intentions to buy. Guys that want something will pay without going back and forth in 20+ emails, DMs or private messages. Cut them off if you feel like they may be a time-waster. If they are not, they will pay.
