Everyone always talks about the Type A workaholic cam girl — the model who’s always online, always looks on-point, and always keeps every appointment perfectly.
Who is this person?!
When the only person really making sure you show up to work is you, some days are easier than others to get online. Here are some tips and tricks to get you through the days when you’re feeling Netflix more than you’re feeling your cam room.
Sell your number
Werk, shmirk. You’d rather be lying on the couch playing with your phone. So why not get paid for it?
Services like Dream Lover and Verified Call work with your phone, often either via an app or via a call-forwarding system. (No one ever gets your actual personal phone number.) You then can chat, text, or exchange pictures with your fans and followers. You and your service provider share the pre-paid fees your fans and followers shell out to communicate with you — easy peasy.
Most of the services offer ways for you to personalize monetization. In other words, you may charge a high fee for your number and text for free, give your number away for free and charge a high price for pics, keep all costs moderate, or whatever strategy you can think of to get some cash flow going.
Sell your personal items
Though you may not think your day-old gym socks have any value, there are many many men who would beg to disagree. So, start selling them!
There are a couple of primary strategies. Have a fan buy you an item and pay an additional fee for it to be worn before you send it to him. Or, share images of you wearing said items, collect payment, and mail the clothes/lingerie/shoes/hair ribbons/whatever to the lucky recipient.
One thing to be mindful of when exchanging goods is payment systems’ terms of service (TOS). PayPal, for example, is simple to use but if the company determines you’re working in an adult- or sex-related business — and that determination can be arbitrary — your account and the funds in it can be confiscated. It’s generally better to accept payment via something like Venmo or Amazon gift card. If you work for a network, the network will handle billing for you.
And remember: Never send anything until you’ve been paid!
Charge for snaps
If you don’t already use Snapchat, get over the intimidation and start charging for snaps. Snapchat literally made Snapcash just for you. (Not technically, but why else would that function exist? Let’s be honest!)
Below is a video that explains exactly what Snapcash does. Though it conveniently glosses over using the service to sell sexy pictures, it doesn’t take a big leap to figure that use out.
In order to make any of the aforementioned ideas financially viable, it’s up to you to hustle your wares. These tips may allow you to take a break from your cam room, but remember that nothing but putting in the hours will cultivate a group of loyal followers and customers.
You also should confirm that none of these tactics violate the terms of service at any networks with which you work. For example, some networks consider selling goods offsite a no-no. Others allow charging for snaps, but only if you use in-network payment systems instead of a service like Snapcash.
There are many clever ways to reach people. It’s up to you to stay savvy and find the one that works best.
